Chapter 282: Benjamin’s End
Nina came into the stand and told everything she knows about Benjamin Miller. I was thankful that she volunteered as one of the witnesses against Benjamin.
Jayden also stood to tell his story to the world. I wasn’t comfortable with his decision, not because I was ashamed of his illness, but because I was worried. But he said he needed to tell everyone about his mother because he wanted to give her justice.
"My mother was raped and killed in front of me by Benjamin’s men. I was lucky to get out alive because my mom hid me in a closet, but seeing her being treated like an animal, I became sick. I have dissociative identity disorder because of that trauma. It might affect the credibility of my statement, but I want everyone to know that having a mental illness was not my fault. I was in a coma for a week and didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye to my mother. The last thing I could remember about her was her lifeless body on our dining table. They raped her again and again, slit her throat and shot her in the head."
My heart breaks hearing Jayden tell everyone about his mother. I knew it was painful for him, but he was there in the stand, looking at the people, reaching to them.
I looked around to see the people’s reaction. The silence was deafening, but I saw tears from everyone’s eyes. Even the judge shed a tear for the man who saw the murder of his mother at a young age.
I comforted Jayden when he sat back beside me. He smiled at me and I saw contentment on his face.
Some of the men from the Santelmo Clan, the Rossi’s and from the Trekker Clan gave their statements against Benjamin Miller. The evidence against him was overwhelming so the four richest families in the city doesn’t need to do anything.
We decided to let the law handle everything and we believed that Benjamin would be punished for his crimes.
He was accused of murder, rape, extortion, human and sex trafficking, illegal gambling, stealing someone’s identity, theft, and a lot more.
