Chapter 226: The Noose
"Sophy, it's a deal then. We're going to become Heroes together!"
"It's a deal. I've already pre-ordered a Wondrous Item Pistol from my family. It auto-aims—my Hero weapon."
"That's great! We can be partners forever. Hero Sophia Amick and Hero Elizabeth Sterling!"
"Liz, save me, save me... I was wrong. I want to be a Hero too..."
Elizabeth watched the children attend class in the Red Rain teaching warehouse. Looking at two little blonde girls, she seemed to see herself and Sophia as children. Recalling the dream she had last night, she let out a soft sigh.
From morning straight through to the afternoon, her thoughts kept drifting back to that dream.
It started with the vow she had shared with Sophia as a child. But very quickly, Sophia's face had twisted in agony, weeping and screaming for help.
Although the master had said Sophia had her own destiny...
The Oath Program still caused ripples in Elizabeth's state of mind.
