Night Hacker

Chapter 220: Rokudaime

Ten days after the Summit War, the Yakuza turmoil in Kabukicho gradually subsided.

Initially, reprisal battles still broke out along Nanshu Street and Jinbo Street, but the situation settled completely when Takeo Hamaken—leader of the Hamaken-gumi and newly minted as "Hamaken the Killer"—announced his resignation to take the blame for the internal conflict.

Takeo Hamaken personally visited the Nagano-gumi headquarters to apologize to the deceased Fifth-Generation Leader, Masao Nagano, and severed three of his own fingers.

Not only did the Hamaken-gumi withdraw from the struggle for the Rokudaime position, but the faction itself underwent a massive shakeup. Ultimately, sworn brother Kiyotomo Koichi took over as the new leader, working with headquarters to reorganize the faction into the Ninkyo Nanshu-gumi, purge its traitors, and discipline its corporate affiliates.

No matter what Takeo Hamaken was thinking, the Hamaken-gumi had exited the stage.

If they hadn't done this, the other Yakuza factions would have battered their branch to death.

During this time, several key figures from the Yakuza's elder faction also stepped forward to support Tsukiori Nagano.

Meat-Pie Chef Kitano, Easy-Going Banta, and Horiyasuhigashi—these names weren't even the true heavyweights.

The two most important figures were Yuzo Yoshimoto—the sworn brother and "Steward" to the Fourth-Generation Leader from the Asajin-kai—and the woman who had previously held the highest status in the Yakuza: the "Godmother" of the Tagou-gumi and wife of the Third-Generation Leader, Madam Tagou.
