Chapter 218: Hero's Oath
"Sophia, do you believe that good brings good rewards, evil brings evil retribution? I don't, but I do love watching the wicked torment each other."
When she was first scheduled for "transfer," Sophia had assumed it would be exactly as Pan had promised: moving to a more spacious, cleaner place with a television, air conditioning, and a decent bed.
Yet after being shocked unconscious and waking up again, she found that while the space was indeed larger, it was steeped in a chilling gloom.
It was nothing short of an underground torture chamber. Various implements of torment were scattered about, many still stained with mottled, dried blood.
Fleshy specimens hung from the walls. Some looked like Mutants, while others were undeniably human.
She was shackled hand and foot and locked inside a massive iron cage. Upon her head rested that triangular Wondrous Item Helmet, capable of blocking transcendent abilities. It was fastened tightly around her neck so it wouldn't fall off.
Even that ragged bed was gone. If she wanted to sleep, she had to curl up against the cage's cold iron bars.
Her situation hadn't improved; it had worsened a hundredfold.
At first, Sophia had screamed for Pan on the verge of a total emotional breakdown. Now, she had fallen completely silent.
