Heavy rain poured down as a stern male voice blared from a loudspeaker, echoing across this stretch of Shuhui Street.
A massive line of riot police stood arrayed in the middle of the road, completely blocking off the sidewalks. Their bodies were augmented with Chassis Prosthetic Bodies, and they leveled riot guns, submachine guns, and other firearms directly at the convoy.
Armored vehicles and police motorcycles surrounded them.
Every police motorcycle exposed its savage mechanical components. Bulletproof glass shielded the front ends, emblazoned with the words: Metropolitan Police Department, Riot Squad.
The riot police riders, clad head-to-toe in Mech Chassis uniforms, kept their human hands on the handlebars while two extra mechanical Cybernetic Hands aimed submachine guns forward. Both the weapons and the bikes looked ready to charge at any second.
The distance between the two sides rapidly closed, forcing the joint convoy of Nagano-gumi and Red Rain to decelerate.
"Protect Miss Nagano! Motorcycle breakout team, get ready to take the alleys!" Mr. Sanada shouted to the convoy.
They couldn't just let themselves be arrested. If Miss Nagano was taken in, she would be locked up long enough to lose her chance at becoming the Rokudaime. Or worse, her police transport would likely suffer a sudden "ambush" on the road, leaving her dead in the streets or murdered in a cell.
