Early that morning, Elizabeth had received the latest news at the Red Rain Investigation Team headquarters.
Last night, the Metropolitan Police Department conducted a crime prevention sweep across multiple districts. In Kabukicho especially, their primary targets were homeless children.
Their previous promises—a more lenient environment for wild dogs and street rats, and more opportunities to obtain legal identities—had just been empty talk.
She had called the Metropolitan Police Department and learned that the children had been sent to a welfare orphanage in Kabukicho. However, she no longer held any illusions about so-called welfare institutions. They claimed the children would learn to be self-reliant through study, but their living conditions were notoriously abysmal.
