Chapter 113: The Future Is in Your Hands
"I didn't just find that hundred bucks. I earned it."
The night was blurred by neon lights. Shuhui Street was as bustling as ever as a group of stray children wove through the crowd.
Over the course of the day, Xingtong had already exchanged the hundred bucks for food. If she held onto it, there was a risk it would be snatched away. Another kid really had found money on the street before, but word got out, and a gang of older kids robbed them.
A hundred bucks was enough to feed her for a few days, but she shared it so her three friends could eat their fill too, which meant it was gone in a single day.
"Will we be able to earn more tomorrow?" asked a little boy named Feimi. He didn't eat much, yet he was covered in baby fat.
"Did you really find a boss?" asked a little boy named Mike. "Who is it? Can they take me in, too?"
Although Xingtong wasn't even seven years old, she was quite sharp. Her boss hadn't even been entirely willing to take her in. "I can't make that decision. But as long as I have a share of food, I'll split some with you guys."
A little girl of the same age named Senzi nodded while gnawing on a piece of bread. "When I make money, I'll share it too. We're friends."
The four kids had been running together for a while now.
