“Alright everyone. Storytime.” I announced, as seven of our eight kids took a seat on pillows I had laid out around my seat. The youngest is a bit too young for storytime, so he was currently with his mom.

And then there was the one unborn child. Next to my seat was a large egg, covered in a heated blanket. My still unhatched child with Janina.

In a half-moon in front of me were the eight born kids.

The first one on the left was Marumi, my now five year old daughter with Cailie. Cailie wanted each of her kids to have umi in their names, and Mar comes from Marin, the flower shop keeper she worked for during her time living in the Hero’s country.

She was born a mermaid, not mer-folk, which was already rare. But even more rare, she is a Moon Mermaid, a new race. I blame Atla for that. She blessed the child before she was even born.

She has a bright pink tail, but her hair is purple, fading into white at the ends. And yes, it is naturally that way. If you cut off the white parts, the hair will adjust so that it keeps that color. No, it doesn’t make sense, but it is because of her magic.

She can use Time, Space and Gravity Magic, but mainly focuses on Gravity. And yes, I’ve banned her from time traveling. As in using my authority as the Timeline God. She may have caused a time anomaly when she was three and half when she wanted to relive her birthday.

Luckily she is the only one who can time travel. Currently. And she isn’t a chaos gremlin.

Trust me, we’ll get to them.

Sitting next to her, or really having her tail on the pillow while he laid on her sister’s tail, was her younger brother. Nahumi. He got his name from Aminah, Cailie’s mom.

His tail is dark blue, having a strong contrast with her bright sister. But like with his sister, it is because of his magic. Nahumi uses Water, Dark and Ice Magic, and he does have a blessing from Despoina, the superior spirit of Ice. But he didn’t get it before his birth, thankfully.

He was actually born a Triton, an extremely rare evolution for Mer-folk. The name comes from Greek mythology, and it was used to describe the half-fish forms of ocean Gods, such as Poseidon.

And like his sister, he doesn’t cause issues, unless you count freezing the pool because he can actually swim through solid ice as if it was water.

… and a certain chaos gremlin is trying to corrupt him into pulling darkness pranks, but he hasn’t gone along with them yet.

Next one was the first of the two chaos gremlins. Ellina. Alice’s currently only child. And she is a four year-old menace. … Okay, she isn’t that bad, but … she sometimes can be.

Named after a mix of Alice’s grandmother, Ellanora, and two of her aunts, Angelina and Paulina, she was the biggest source of headaches amongst my children.

The main reason is her skill with Magic. She can use all six of the regular attributes, as well as Nature, Lightning, Ice and Metal Magic. In short, everything except Space, Time and Gravity.

And she doesn’t want to stop using them. Because her race is literally Divine Magic Human.

I have no clue how she managed to pull the Divine modifier race from us, but for some reason she just got it. And that makes her difficult to contain when she doesn’t want to be contained. Because she has access to Divine Mana Control and Divine Miasma Control. And those just boost her stupidly high magic skills even higher.

Alice isn’t the toughest mother either. She is always impressed by Ellina’s Spells, even if those Spells will cause a major headache down the line. Oh and yes, Alice does have the Divine modifier race, as well as the Divine Mana and Miasma Control skills. She was actually the first one to have them out of my wives. Well, Janina technically could use them, but she doesn’t have a System status, so she doesn’t count.

Next to her was the buffer between her and her chaos companion. That buffer being Arthur. Wilma’s boy.

He was … what do I say about him? A dream. The Dwarf boy had been born with the Hero class race. Which somewhat led to his name. During his six years alive, he has also learned Blacksmithing, Crafting, Enchanting and so on. All the skills he needed to make his own Excalibur, yes it is named that, when he was just five.

He is usually the quietest of our kids, but you better believe if you get him started on alloy composition, metal grain structure, optimal quenching temperatures or any other number of subjects, he will talk your ear off.

And like Marumi, he can use Time Magic. Luckily he never bothered learning how to time travel, but I suspect it is only a matter of time. Maybe when one of his projects fails and he doesn’t want to start it from scratch.

The next chaos gremlin, though not nearly as bad as Ellina, is Unika’s daughter.

Amaterasu, though we just call her Ammy. And she is just a few months older than Ellina.

No, it wasn’t my idea. It was Unika and Stella that demanded it. They are the sun fox, so they needed their daughter to be named after the fox God of the Sun.

To make things worse, Ammy is a literal Draconic Sun Kitsune. And Amaterasu, in some myths, is described as a dragon-fox.

Now why does she make a bad combination with Ellina? Well, Ammy has a Unique-Racial skill called Blessing of the Sun. She can bless people. Boosting all of their stats. And guess twice who she blessed first?

She can also transform into a tiny winged fox, which Ellina says is her magical girl companion animal. And since a magical girl always gets into trouble, it doesn’t bother them at all if they end up face to face with a monster they have no business taking on.

… okay, the fact is that they can kill SS-ranks if they work together. So they don’t even run into problems. They just make problems out of anything they come across.

The only saving grace is their inability to teleport. … for now.

Then there are our two eldest, both Lua’s kids. No, she didn’t have twins. She just was fast and didn’t want to wait for the others.

Ryley, Rey, is her only son. At seven, he is the second eldest. And he can be a serious older brother. … but like many dhampirs, a little blood from his younger sisters does make him turn a blind eye to their actions.

He took on some animal traits, like having cat ears and a tail, as well as bat-like wings. He also has a full animal transformation like Ammy, becoming a winged cat.

Other than that he is … quite normal amongst our children. Yeah. When the cat-dhampir is ‘normal’, you know the others aren’t.

Irina, Ina, is our eldest at nine. But she is shocking in her own ways.

She pulled some Octopus-folk and Scylla influence from me. She is capable of growing large tentacles from her back. But instead of regular suckers, they have little lamprey mouths. She uses them to latch onto people and animals, and they can also be used to suck blood.

The slight resemblance to cthulhu made Janina avoid her for a few weeks when she first grew her tentacles, but she did eventually grow to love our eldest.

Last, our currently youngest. Sangria, Sia. Lua’s third. She ‘took a break’ from having kids after Rey and Ina, but with just Janina’s egg incubating and no one else currently trying for a kid, she decided it was the time for a third child.

Sia is still just two months old, so she isn’t quite old enough for storytime.

“Alright. What story should I tell you today?” I asked, which naturally turned into a yelling competition between Ellina, Marumi and Ammy.

Nahumi was already falling asleep on her sister’s tail, Rey and Ina had heard a lot of stories already, and Arthur just wanted to hear anything.

It was fine with me. I had plenty of stories I could tell. Both from this world and my previous one.

So how about I start the story about magic rings that take you to other worlds? Of the magic closet. Witch and lion. It was one of my favorites when I was in elementary school. And it will last for at least a few weeks.
