Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.772 Maximum Crisis

Today is a fissure day. Who could have guessed? There is always another fissure.

The strange part was that I didn’t get a System warning for it. I actually noticed it myself as I was training with the Numeron Code All-Sight. Just the pre-sign, but that being there means that the fissure will pop within the day.

It was quite far up north, in an area that technically belonged to an elf clan, but it was uninhabited land. Luckily we weren’t on the State side, as I really don’t want to deal with them.

I made an announcement over the HomeBase PA to have the Card Venturers ready to go. I could deal with the fissure myself, but it is a training day for the Venturers, and we can turn that training into some live ‘practice’ instead.

I teleported us all there, made a Space Magic platform for us to stand on while we looked over the area, summoned Exodia and popped open the fissure, and let the Venturers get to work.

The SS-rank that showed up was a real fish out of water. Well, an octopus actually. It went on a massive rampage, attacking everything around itself, which left a few of the Venturers to get hit.

Miris took the worst hits, and I had to pull him out of the line of fire … well water really, when his armor shattered under the onslaught. I also gave him some healing services, and kept him from going back in. With no armor to protect him … okay, he’d be fine. But the monster will also die in just a bit and the rest of the Venturers have it, so I kept Miris on the sidelines.

After the monster fell, I gathered its corpse into Storage, gathered all the trees that it had knocked over, used a bit of Nature Magic to help the forest regrow faster, and teleported us all back to HomeBase.

So, pack time. Is what I’d like to say, but before I got to that, I got a called to the MedBay because Myrphe had passed out.

Lua couldn’t quite figure out why, but as I looked into the HomeBase security cams, I got a pretty good idea. Miris handed Myrphe the ruined scraps left of his clothes and Myrphe just couldn’t quite handle it.

Understandable in a way. Her past isn’t the easiest, and ruined clothing can definitely trigger some bad memories.

Physically she was fine, so I made a quick web in the MedBay and laid Myrphe on it to rest, but I’ll need to see if I can build up her mental health.

I’ll keep an eye on the MedBay so that I can get there when Myrphe recovers, but while I wait for that, pack time.

And the set of the day is Maximum Crisis.

It has Supreme King Z-ARC as the cover card, so I might get some cool cards. … or cards I already got because of the Pendulum challenge.

So let's see if this is a good set.

Spoiler

MACR 1

Break Away; Subterror Behemoth Speleogeist; Zoodiac Gathering; Diamond Duston; D/D Ghost; Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman; Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow; Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon; Zefraath

[collapse]

Break Away is a stupid battle trap that may have been used in 2007, but nowadays it is worthless. … well, I might find a use for it, but in terms of TCG use, trash.

Subterror Behemoth Speleogeist has the standard Subterror special summoning condition, can flip itself face down, and when flipped face up, it makes the attack of a monster 0.

Zoodiac Gathering is meh. You just generally don’t need the effect, and you definitely don’t need it on a Continuous Trap.

Diamond Duston sucks about as much as all other Duston cards.

D/D Ghost is alright, but not something D/Ds generally need.

Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman is pretty nice since it does special summon Buster Dragon.

Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow if fine. And I do like the Lyrilusc archetype. Just the fact that their goal is to summon a 5 material Rank 1 is cool.

Raidraptor - Stranger Falcon is nice. Sure it is ‘the other Rank 5 Raidraptor’, but it is better than Blaze Falcon in my opinion.

And Zefraath is kind of crazy. It is a wannabe god that Pack Opener didn’t even give the Divine-Beast effect. Yes it is a good monster, but I probably won’t use it.

MACR 2

Set Rotation; Artifact Vajra; Phantasm Spiral Power; Zefra War; Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow; Performapal Revue Dancer; Familiar-Possessed - Lyna; Pendulum Switch; Ultra Polymerization

[collapse]

Set Rotation is interesting, but at the end of the day quite useless outside of duel. … probably. It might be able to do large scale terraforming, but then again, Terraforming can’t so … Experiments, maybe.

Artifact Vajra I already had.

Phantasm Spiral Power is a decent trap, but you have to run mostly normal monsters.

Zefra War is just ‘destroy a card you have, and a card your opponent has’.

Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow searches on special summon and a Wind Xyz summoned using it cannot be targeted by the opponent’s card effects.

Performapal Revue Dancer specials itself and acts as 2 tributes for Performapals.

Familiar-Possessed - Lyna can special itself from the deck, and searches for a Spellcaster when summoned that way.

Pendulum Switch lets you special summon a monster from your Pendulum scale, or place a Pendulum monster on the field to be your Pendulum scale.

Ultra Polymerization is an interesting card for TCG use, but for me, I can just summon other copies of the materials.

Next pack.

MACR 3

Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow; Phantasm Spiral Grip; Speedroid Skull Marbles; Familiar-Possessed - Lyna; Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra; Digital Bug LEDybug; Set Rotation; Pendulumucho; Pendulum Switch

[collapse]

Phantasm Spiral Grip is a meh equip. … until you read the part where it can summon a 2900 attack monster from your deck, and burn for 1k while at it.

Speedroid Skull Marbles looks like it should be a Superheavy Samurai. I hope I’m not the only one. Sadly it sucks. Well, I suppose it does special summon itself, but even then it really isn’t all that great.

Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra searches for Poly and Fusion spells, and I think most of you knew that. It is quite the well known card.

Digital Bug LEDybug is fine. It does searching and gives a ‘When this card destroys a monster by battle, draw 1 card’ effect to an Xyz monster that was summoned using it.

Pendulumucho specials a level 1 Pendulum from your extra deck when summoned.

Next pack.

Spoiler

MACR 4

Diamond Duston; The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnetring; Phantasm Spiral Power; Phantasm Spiral Crash; Double Resonator; Bug Signal; The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace; Supreme King Gate Zero; Bujin Hiruko

[collapse]

The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnetring can negate an attack and become a monster. But it is a level 2 monster for some reason, when it really should be level 3. But it can tribute itself and 1 other Phantom Knights, either monster or a continuous spell or trap, to draw 2.

Phantasm Spiral Crash is another equip for vanillas. It allows them to do piercing damage, and when the equipped vanilla does battle damage, you summon Phantasm Spiral Dragon from your deck and equip this thing to it. I think the other Phantasm equip is just a bit better, but that is just my opinion.

Double Resonator makes a face up monster be treated as a Tuner for the turn.

Bug Signal is basically a Rank-Up-Magic for Insect Xyz monsters.

The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace is another stupid trap, and again it summons itself as a level 2 monster.

Supreme King Gate Zero I already had.

And Bujin Hiruko can tribute itself in the Pendulum zone to allow you to trade your Bujin Xyz monster for a different Bujin Xyz monster.

Next pack.

MACR 5

Vennu, Bright Bird of Divinity; Disciples of the True Dracophoenix; Zoodiac Kataroost; The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace; Artifact Vajra; Break Away; Phantasm Spiral Crash; B.E.S. Big Core MK-3; Pendulumucho

[collapse]

Vennu, Bright Bird of Divinity is okay, but it is just a mediocre recovery engine. It is another monster that could have been good if it came out 7 to 10 years earlier, but it didn’t.

Disciples of the True Dracophoenix has some really nice effects for the True Draco/True King deck.

Zoodiac Kataroost has a battle floating effect, which is just sad. But the effect it gives the Xyz monsters is nice.

Next pack.

Spoiler

MACR 6

Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra; Zefra War; Phantasm Spiral Grip; Kaiser Sea Snake; D/D Ghost; Magician's Right Hand; Lyrilusc - Cobalt Sparrow; The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin; Zefra Providence

[collapse]

Kaiser Sea Snake is kind of stupid. It specials itself, which is nice. It specials another level 8 from the hand or GY, which is great. But then it becomes level 4 for some reason. … okay, I know why. It's because Kaiser Sea Snake is a card used by Shark in the Zexal manga. So you are supposed to summon another copy of itself, and both of them will be level 4 for a Rank 4 play.

Magician's Right Hand negates Spells, which is great. I’ll need to check if it will make for a good install on Alice.

The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin is, I suppose, a reason for the level 2 trap monsters. But it just negates effects.

Zefra Providence searches for a Zefra and can banish itself to protect a Zefra. So pretty nice.

Next pack.

Spoiler

MACR 7

Speedroid Maliciousmagnet; Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow; Ghost Beef; Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra; Phantasm Spiral Assault; Double Resonator; Zoodiac Kataroost; Subterror Final Battle; The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin

[collapse]

Speedroid Maliciousmagnet lets you use an opponent’s monster as Synchro material.

Ghost Beef will probably be my dinner tonight. Sure it claims to be a ghost, but we’ll see. I can always DNA Surgery it to not be a Ghost. Though it already is Beast-type.

Phantasm Spiral Assault is a retarded insta win card with a nearly impossible to fulfill condition. … Unless there was a Phantasm equip card that allows for multi-attacking, but I don’t remember there being one.

Subterror Final Battle is pretty nice. Changing battle positions, increasing stats or just making sure your opponent can’t negate your plays. And it resets so you can use it again on your next turn.

Next pack.

Spoiler

MACR 8

Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman; Digital Bug LEDybug; Bug Signal; Zoodiac Hammerkong; Disciples of the True Dracophoenix; Vennu, Bright Bird of Divinity; Phantasm Spiral Assault; Subterror Final Battle; Fairy Tail - Luna

[collapse]

Zoodiac Hammerkong is sad. It just … does very little for Zoodiacs. Well, it is an easy extra material for a better Zoodiac Xyz. But redirecting card effects to itself really isn’t that great.

Fairy Tail - Luna searches for 1850 attack Spellcasters on summon. You know, specific much. And it can target a monster and your opponent either mills a copy of it or both this thing and the targeted monster are returned to the hand.

Next pack.

Spoiler

MACR 9

Digital Bug LEDybug; The Phantom Knights of Wrong Magnetring; Gift Exchange; Vennu, Bright Bird of Divinity; Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra; Prologue of the Destruction Swordsman; The Phantom Knights of Lost Vambrace; Lyrilusc - Independent Nightingale; Performapal Sky Pupil

[collapse]

Gift Exchange makes both players banish a card from their decks, and then during the end phase that card is given to the opponent.

Lyrilusc - Independent Nightingale is stupid. Not by itself, but just the combo it can do with The Tyrant Neptune or few other monsters that can copy its effect. In Lyrilusc, you might get this thing out as a level 6, maybe 7 if you really have the perfect hand. But with The Tyrant Neptune, you have an easy 6k monster that is unaffected by everything and can burn for 5k. So in short, I like you but why did you have to get The Tyrant Neptune banned?

Performapal Sky Pupil has a stupid special summoning effect, but at least the battle effects are nice. Negating the effects and then destroying the monster is quite powerful.

Last pack.

Spoiler

MACR 10

Lyrilusc - Sapphire Swallow; SPYRAL MISSION - Rescue; Phantasm Spiral Wave; Phantasm Spiral Grip; Primal Cry; Zoodiac Kataroost; Gift Exchange; Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant; D/D/D Stone King Darius

[collapse]

SPYRAL MISSION - Rescue just returns SPYRALs from the GY to hand.

Phantasm Spiral Wave is another equip. It protects the equipped normal monster from being destroyed by battle. And it summons the Phantasm Spiral Dragon at the end of the battle phase if the equipped monster battled.

Primal Cry is just a Ritual Spell, but it can banish itself to resurrect a Ritual.

Metaltron XII, the True Dracombatant is nice, since you can summon it being immune to everything. And if it is somehow destroyed, it special summons a Fusion, Synchro or Xyz monster from the extra deck.

D/D/D Stone King Darius destroys Dark Contracts and lets you draw a card when you do. It can also detach a material when it battles to make itself not die, and then it destroys the opposing monster and burns for 500. So it is fine, but you probably wouldn’t run it in D/D/Ds.

But that is it for this opening. Some alright cards. Lyrilusc - Independent Nightingale is especially cool since I can still combo it with Neptune. Hopefully next time I’ll get Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale so I can actually summon Independent Nightingale the proper way.
