CH.741 The Last Things in the Past
So now that that is all over, you might expect me to just return to the future right now. But let’s be honest here, I’ve been here for 50 years already. I can be here for another 20, following the rest of the Hero’s story so that I can document it. And while I do miss everyone and I really want to go back just to have a cuddle session, it will be better to just tough it out until I’ve done everything in this time.
And honestly, the next few years went by in a flash compared to the seventeen I spent just watching over Hajime, and even the 26 I spent watching him slowly grow his forces.
So much was happening.
Starting with the Hero’s country and the three Kingdoms. With all the armies present, a treaty was written and the idea for the Kingdoms written down. This would allow for the rebuilding to start, while the armies would deal with the powerful monsters still roaming the lands. This would also allow them to make claims for those lands while hopefully bringing those who weren’t on board to agree to the terms without any wars between humanoids.
The Hero, now named Takeo Hero since his original name was erased from the world, meanwhile went around with his party to save everyone who was a slave to the Demon King. The name Takeo was given to him by the elves, by the way, thus the Japanese name.

Now, you might think that everyone from the Demon Lord’s army is dead. And I can understand why. The Demon Lord was using that old style slave mark, the one with no limits on killing orders. But more importantly, one that kills all the slaves when the owner dies.
Luckily I was there so that didn’t happen. It wasn’t at all difficult to block the Soul connections with Soul Magic, so when the Demon Lord died, none of his slaves did and the slave marks became inactive.
So now it was time to try and get the last of his forces to surrender, and get the captured people to their side.
And one of the biggest issues for that were the vampires. They could be accepted into the System, but some sort of origin code for them would be needed. Basically a DNA sequence that is wide enough to include most vampires. If there was an origin vampire, that would do it. But since each was handmade by Hajime, there wasn’t one.
… until I remembered something I had in Storage. The Blood of the Origin Dhampir.
It may not be the blood of a vampire, but it contains the blood of nearly every dhampir living in the future. Each of those dhampirs would have a vampire ancestor. So I somehow needed to get it to the Hero, without being overly suspicious.
Luckily it wasn’t all that difficult. I just made another soul copy of myself, had them turn into a vampire, well a dhampir really but good luck telling the difference, and confronting the Hero’s party.
I had him play the part of a perfect vampire, one with no weakness to light and he himself named him the next generation of vampires, a dhampir. This is because I had the origin blood of dhampirs, not vampires.
I also purposefully nerfed that copy of myself to only be around level 250. Very powerful, but nothing compared to the Demon Lord. It was still a believable power level for him to have.
So after being ‘defeated’, I erased the body of my soul copy to make it seem like he was burning in the sunlight, leaving behind the Blood of the Origin Dhampir. And with it at their disposal, the Hero’s party and the Goddess were able to add Vampires to the System accepted races.
Admittedly there were zero born vampires. All vampires were born as dhampirs, even babies had by two people who had been turned into vampires by Hajime.
The other problem I thought I might have to solve was Ibu. But luckily, I didn’t have to. The Goddess took care of that part.
She, like the rest of the Hero’s party, tried to reclaim the name of Aspirin. Naturally it was impossible without myself getting involved, but trying to find it out led them to the demon world.
There, a Contract Keeper demon named Ibuprofen helped them as much as possible, but in the end, even finding a demon named Aspirin was impossible. After all, she was never a true demon. But the Hero’s party didn’t realize it.
Still, for all his work, Ibuprofen earned the respect of the Hero. So the Goddess handed the coin maker to him, and Ibu was set to get to the role he has in the future.
Following the Hero’s party even further into the future, I really didn’t do much. I just watched over them and the Kingdoms.
The next time I had to do something was actually when the Hero’s party met Janina. Because I remembered something important from when we watched Janina’s memories.
I remember seeing a mysterious ripple in the air. Someone watching over the Hero’s party, but never getting involved. … well, never was clearly wrong.
But I knew I had to be ‘noticed’ by Janina, so I instead used Space Magic to hide myself, and undid my usual invisibility and intangibility I used. If I used those, even Janina wouldn’t notice me.
I just watched their playfight, and while I really wanted to dive into the scales of Janina, I held myself back. But I did remember to do something else, so while a copy of me went after the Hero’s party, my true soul stayed with Janina until she went to sleep that night.
And I invaded her dreams with Soul Magic. It was a little dangerous, as I wasn’t sure if Janina could reverse attack me with Soul Magic. But since I was wearing the Protection of Ami, I should be safe.
I took on the appearance of the dragon from Janina’s memories, and even if I wasn’t 100% correct, it is a minor correction the world will have to make.
I told her what I’d seen that dragon tell her. I told her to live on and wait for the one’s arrival. That she would know the day had come when she would face down a dragon like her.
I then left her to wait for me. Because I knew she’d wait 1300 years for me. She already had.
“Brian. Why didn’t you tell me?” Janina asked. She sounded a bit emotional, but nothing near to how she was when we looked at her memories about Ami Sei.
“I didn’t want to jump the story.” I told her. “But since there was no one else following the Hero’s party, and I knew this was supposed to happen, I knew I did it, so I did.” I explained.
“... are you strong enough to impregnate me yet?” She asked.
“I think so. But…”
“I’m still first in line!” Lua declared.
“Yes. So I can do you just after her.” I promised. “How long does it take you to lay an egg anyway? You don’t lay eggs as a part of a natural bodily cycle, so..?”
“You can wait and see. I had to wait for you.” Janina said, her voice going from emotional to teasing.
By the time I decided to call it good, I had been in the past for over 80 years. I’d been watching over the Hero for almost 40 years.
He wasn’t all that old looking yet, despite being about 60. He married both Lucia and Arcadia, the three of them having a total of six kids. Three girls, three boys. The girls were married off to be the next queens of the three Kingdoms, while the boys took over the positions of Master of the Adventurers’ Guild, the Head Saint of the Church, and the Great Sage of the Sage’s Tower.
And with that, everything I needed to do in the past, including documenting the Hero’s story, had come to a close. So with nothing left to do …
… I should check up on one thing. Because something makes me think I need to.
I teleported myself to a random part of a forest. Is what anyone would think, but I knew exactly where I was.
I was at a very specific location inside the Ever forest. One where one day I would accidentally discover a dungeon. A huge dungeon. A dungeon that must have been growing there for at least a millennium.
So I confirmed if HomeBase was there or not. Well, the dungeon that would eventually become HomeBase. And it wasn’t.
So I made a decision I wasn’t 100% sure about. I made a rogue dungeon. It really wasn’t that difficult, I knew how a dungeon pedestal is made and I have plenty of monster cores I can place on the dungeon to act as the rogue core.
So I dug out a quick, single room cave. Made a dungeon core pedestal in there, placed a monster core on it without touching the core, so as to not become a dungeon founder, and left the dungeon be. I’d be back to find it. In just over 1300 years.
I then chanted the spell that would take me to the 'current' time and left the past behind.
“... of course.” Lua said.
“Yeah. Because why not.” I answered.
“Because it makes no sense!” She complained. “Time travel never does! You can’t just … go to the past to make the dungeon you’d find in the future before you even know you’ll travel to the past to make said dungeon to … ARGGH!”
“Yeah, it can be messy. Just don’t think about it that way.” I told her. “Think about it in this way. Everything that has already happened is destined to happen, unless someone who knows what has happened and purposefully makes it so that it cannot happen.”
“Aka. compare what the States attempted to do against what Brian did. They didn’t know Hajime was the Demon Lord, so them sending him back was destiny. But Brian helping in stopping him was his actions, since he knew what needed to happen for his future.” Alice consolidated.
“Still a mess.” Lua said.
“Well, we are done here for now.” I said, as the me on screen began chanting the spell to teleport back. “Bedroom time, anyone? I’ve been waiting for years.”
“No solo fun in the past?” Unika asked. “Or maybe fun with your copy?”
“First of all, that is fucking strange. Don’t even go there. I don’t feel attraction towards my copies. Second, no. Just never felt the need for it. If I had, I would have jumped here, had sex with one, or all, of you, and jumped back.”
“The fact that you say that so casually is terrifying.” Lua said. “We need to stop playing with time. A reset might happen.”
“If one does, I’ll be unaffected.” I reminded them, as I brought the staff the All-Mighty gave me from Storage. “So I can make sure we will end up together, even if this world wants to separate us.”
