CH.732 Breakers of Shadow
Alright. Now, before my trip to the past, which is coming in just a few days, I have a few last fissures to deal with. So the good news is, I’ll have more sets to pick from as I wait to meet the Hero in the past.
Unika helped me with today’s fissure. She used her Stellar System technique and unleashed powerful Light and Fire spells on the few S-ranks that showed up, quickly clearing the fissure monsters.
Sadly that caused some environmental damage, so we called Cailie over to fix it. With Nature Magic, it didn’t take her long.
And no, Unika didn’t light the forest on fire or anything. Sure a few trees got burnt, but no uncontrollable forest fires. Flame Control isn’t the easiest Control spell, but Unika can use it with ease, bringing the flames from the trees to her Stellar System, adding them to her suns.
But just because the flames were recalled doesn’t mean that there wasn’t any damage.
With the fissure closed and the damage healed, I teleported the three of us back to HomeBase.
Now to the packs. The set I got is Breakers of Shadow, so let’s open 10 packs and see what I can get.
Spoiler
BOSH 1
Aegaion the Sea Castrum; Wizard Buster Destruction Sword; Blackwing - Harmattan the Dust; Dinomist Rush; Zany Zebra; Shiranui Smith; Performapal Rain Goat; Goyo Emperor; Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer
[collapse]
Aegaion the Sea Castrum is interesting, but useless. People don’t have extra decks. But in the TCG, being able to banish a random monster from your opponent’s extra deck, with Aegaion taking its name, attack and effect, is quite fun. Sadly it is a rank 8. If it was a rank 4, I’d call it amazing.
Wizard Buster Destruction Sword is another ‘good in the TCG, useless for me’ cards. Dead people don’t generally use skills.
Blackwing - Harmattan the Dust is just a nice tuner for Blackwings.
Dinomist Rush seems nice at first. It specials from the deck. But the monster is unaffected by other cards, so I can’t return it to the hand, thus I cannot sleeve it. So yes it can make me single use monsters, but I can’t get them permanently. For once, protection is actually bad for me.
Zany Zebra is basically an Ojama, except that it can also block off Spell and Trap zones. Which is actually an interesting counter to Pendulums. After the master rule 4 change that brought the Pendulum zones to be the rightmost and leftmost spell and trap zones. You can just block one of them and your opponent cannot Pendulum summon.
… I wonder if this thing ever got banned because of that? Probably not, but maybe there were a few good Pendulum decks and this thing just hard countered them so bad that it had to get banned. Yeah, I doubt that. But it is possible.
Shiranui Smith is fine in terms of its effect, but the real nice thing is the fact that I got another Smith monster. Sure I don’t need them nearly as much anymore, but it is still good to have more available.
Performapal Rain Goat either prevents effect damage, or gives a monster battle and card effect destruction protection.
Goyo Emperor is pretty nice for a Goyo deck, as you can summon it with Miracle Synchro Fusion.
And Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer is … okay-ish. It has 1950 attack, which is good for level 4. I mean, he looks amazing. But could be a bit better.
Next pack. … I just the set code. BOSH is almost Bosch. What is this set trying to give me, home appliances? Honestly, I’d take some. Just for reverse engineering reasons. I don’t have a washing and I think Laundry Dragonmaid would appreciate having one. … or maybe she’d destroy it because it took her job.

BOSH 2
Performance Hurricane; Twilight Ninja Nichirin, the Chunin; Deskbot 007; Superheavy Samurai General Jade; Engraver of the Mark; Superheavy Samurai Magnet; Forbidden Apocrypha; Pendulum Storm; Goyo Emperor
[collapse]
Performance Hurricane is nice. A mass return to hand spell.
Twilight Ninja Nichirin, the Chunin can either boost the attack of a Ninja monster, or give all Ninjas and Ninjitsu Arts protection for the turn.
Deskbot 007 gains 500 attack for each Deskbot in the GY, forces your opponent to attack it and deals piercing damage.
Superheavy Samurai General Jade is fine. The level increase can help to summon some Superheavy Samurai Synchros. But still, all it really does is allow Superheavy Samurais to Pendulum summon.
Engraver of the Mark I just recently got because of that special edition bonus.
Superheavy Samurai Magnet forces your opponent into attacking it.
Forbidden Apocrypha counters an extra deck type.
Pendulum Storm is great if you are playing against a Pendulum deck. You get to both break their scales and one piece of backrow. Otherwise it isn’t all that great.
Next pack.

BOSH 3
Twilight Ninja Shingetsu; Shiranui Style Swallow's Slash; Deskbot 008; Dinomist Charge; Shiranui Smith; Robot Buster Destruction Sword; Performance Hurricane; Superheavy Samurai Beast Kyubi; Dinomist Rex
[collapse]
Twilight Ninja Shingetsu is a forced target that searches when destroyed.
Shiranui Style Swallow's Slash is Icarrus Attack for Zombies, but you do need to run Shiranui monsters to be able to use it.
Deskbot 008 gains attack for Deskbots in the GY, like 007. But instead of redirecting attacks, it redirects targeting effects to itself. And instead of piercing, 008 can attack twice. So I’d say it is a bit better than 007.
Dinomist Charge is fine. The search on activation is good, as is returning stuff that goes face up in the extra deck to the hand. But realistically, I don’t need it. It is a consistency card for the TCG. I don’t need those sorts of cards.
Robot Buster Destruction Sword is better than the wizard version. Preventing continuous spell use is much better than preventing the dead from using their skills.
Superheavy Samurai Beast Kyubi is decent in the TCG, where gaining the defense is nice. But it really needs more protection. Maybe it could have an effect where it permanently loses defense to negate effects of special summoned monsters?
Dinomist Rex is fine. The Pendulum effect of negating targeting cards is good, and the monster effect allows it to attack multiple times.
Also, three packs, three super rares. Either Pack Opener is busted, this set is busted, or I’m just really lucky.

BOSH 4
Superheavy Samurai Prepped Defense; Dinomist Rush; Dinomist Stegosaur; Dinomist Charge; Performance Hurricane; Shiranui Samurai; Wizard Buster Destruction Sword; Twilight Ninja Getsuga, the Shogun; Dharma-Eye Magician
[collapse]
Nope, definitely Pack Opener. Because now that I think of it, when I opened High-Speed Riders, each pack had either a super or secret rare. I didn’t question it then as I thought that that is just how that set was. I mean, there are some sets that are all holographics, so having a guaranteed holo in each pack isn’t that strange. Especially in a set that has a lot of reprinted cards.
… Actually, this might have been when Konami changed it so that each pack has a guaranteed Holographic card. I remember they did so at some point when sales weren’t all that great. And it could have been during this time.
Well anyway. Be it that or something wrong with Pack Opener, I’ll take it. More holos, more fun.
Superheavy Samurai Prepped Defense is an alright hand trap that can stop further attacks.
Dinomist Stegosaur protects other Dinomist monsters by destroying itself. That is if it is a Pendulum scale. If it is a monster, if another Pendulum battles, you get to destroy the monster it battled after damage calc.
Shiranui Samurai can gain attack and banish what it battles, it also recovers Shiranui monsters from the GY.
Twilight Ninja Getsuga, the Shogun can resurrect 2 Ninjas at the same time.
Dharma-Eye Magician can manipulate the Pendulum scale of the other Pendulum. And as a monster, it protects Magician Pendulum monsters on the turn it was Pendulum summoned.

BOSH 5
Karma of the Destruction Swordsman; Performapal Rain Goat; Majespecter Sonics; Wizard Buster Destruction Sword; Deskbot 008; Dinomist Ceratops; Superheavy Samurai General Coral; Goyo Defender; Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon
[collapse]
Karma of the Destruction Swordsman is a 1500 attack boost to a Buster Blader. Or "Destruction Sword" monster. Which is basically just the Buster Blader fusion.
Majespecter Sonics doubles the attack and defense of a Majespecter monster for the turn, but any battle damage it does is halved.
Dinomist Ceratops can special summon itself. And as a scale, it can destroy itself to protect Dinomists for card effect destruction.
Superheavy Samurai General Coral is interesting. The Pendulum effect allows for double attacking, which is great. The monster effect of tribute 2 for a draw 2 would be nice if Superheavy Samurais had better Pendulum monsters at the time, but they didn’t. If they did, you could just Pendulum summon those monsters from the extra deck, and then tribute them for a draw 2.
Goyo Defender summons more Goyo Defenders from the extra deck. And it gains attack when attacked. But only when attacked.
Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon is a card I legitimately forgot. A Ritual Odd-Eyes? What is that? Well, it is pretty good. Returning all Spells and Traps to hand on summon is nice, and then taxing them when they activate cards is also nice. Sure that might just make it a copy of Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon, but that is fine. Besides, Gravity Dragon can probably use Draconic Gravity Magic. And he looks really cool.

BOSH 6
Shiranui Samuraisaga; Shiranui Smith; Superheavy Samurai Magnet; Shiranui Style Synthesis; Dinomist Brachion; Twilight Ninja Nichirin, the Chunin; Score the Melodious Diva; Performapal Guitartle; Quaking Mirror Force
[collapse]
Shiranui Samuraisaga can shuffle a banished Zombie into the deck, and then turn everything with less attack than that Zombie into defense position.
Shiranui Style Synthesis is okay, but needing no monsters on the field does take it down a notch.
Dinomist Brachion can negate targeting effects while it is a Pen scale. And it can special summon itself from the hand.
Score the Melodious Diva is a Melodious Honest. Kind of. Instead of raising the attack of a Melodious monster, it reduces the attack and defense of the opposing monster to 0.
Performapal Guitartle lets you draw a card if you activate a Performapal monster as the other Pendulum scale. And as a monster, it lets you raise the Pen scale of a monster by 2 for a turn.
And Quaking Mirror Force is obviously really good. Situational, yes. But very good.

BOSH 7
Zany Zebra; Hi-Speed Re-Level; Dinomic Powerload; Dinomist Ceratops; Superheavy Samurai General Coral; Solo the Melodious Songstress; Robot Buster Destruction Sword; Performapal Guitartle; Solemn Strike
[collapse]
Hi-Speed Re-Level is nice. The level chance is basically nothing, but a 500x the level of a monster you banish from the GY attack boost is quite nice.
Dinomic Powerload gives Dinomist a 300 attack and defense boost, and your opponent can’t use cards or effects when they battle.
Solo the Melodious Songstress can be special summoned under Cyber Dragon conditions, and when it dies, you get to special summon a Melodious from the deck.
And Solemn Strike is great. It negates skill use, or it should, and will then strike the opponent with some lightning. At least I think so. Need to test it.
Next pack.

BOSH 8
Superheavy Samurai General Jade; Twilight Ninja Nichirin, the Chunin; Twilight Ninja Shingetsu; Dinomist Ceratops; Performapal Bit Bite Turtle; Dark Doriado; Hi-Speed Re-Level; Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon; Odd-Eyes Advent
[collapse]
Performapal Bit Bite Turtle is pretty bad, but you can’t hate it because it is cute.
Dark Doriado gives all Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind monsters you control gain 200 ATK/DEF for every different Attribute among the monsters you control. That can be up to 1400 attack if all seven attributes are on the field. Remember that the Divine attribute is also a thing.
Odd-Eyes Advent is a ritual spell. It doesn’t actually name Gravity Dragon, as it can be used to summon any Dragon Ritual monster. And the only special thing about it is that it can send face up Odd-Eyes from the extra deck to the GY as a cost.
But no wonder Gravity Dragon was never used. You can’t Pre-Preperation Odd-Eyes Advent.
Next pack.

BOSH 9
Superheavy Samurai General Jade; Dinomist Charge; Shiranui Samuraisaga; Mistaken Accusation; Dinomist Brachion; Draco Face-Off; Superheavy Samurai Prepped Defense; Dinomist Pteran; Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince
[collapse]
Mistaken Accusation is terrible. You prevent a card from being used, except the copy that is already in play.
Draco Face-Off searches for both a Dracoslayer and Dracoverlord Pendulum monsters.
Dinomist Pteran does the usual Dinomist sacrificial play. And as a monster, when it destroys a monster by battle, you search for a Dinomist.
Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince can either search for an Atlantean or special summon 1 from the GY.
Next pack.

BOSH 10
Dragon Buster Destruction Sword; Zany Zebra; Dinomist Stegosaur; Dinomist Rush; Forbidden Apocrypha; Performapal Monkeyboard; Superheavy Samurai Magnet; Shiranui Spectralsword; Twilight Ninja Getsuga, the Shogun
[collapse]
Performapal Monkeyboard… what can I say about you..? Except that you are busted! And you were banned for a reason!
And Shiranui Spectralsword allows you to Synchro summon by banishing it and another Zombie from the GY.
So. That was the first opening of Breakers of Shadow. Some pretty cool cards. Solemn Strike and Gravity Dragon were my favorites. The Deskbots are also nice.
But next time I have one more fissure to deal with, then it is time for me to travel to the past. To the far past.
