CH.722 Completing The New Challengers
Taking care of the few time travel problems I figured out last time didn’t take too long. As suspected, if I turn off all of my senses, I can travel backwards in time without much difficulty. There is still this sense of ‘wrongness’ that transmits through my mana circuits, but I can’t exactly block that.
Because of that, we began working on an improved version of our time travel spell. Something that would block most of that sensory feedback.
That led to a bunch more tests, and thanks to those, Laura began to figure out how to deal with the ‘two Brians’ problem. She couldn’t yet fully mask us from the System, but we are getting there.
When it came to the other parts of the time travel, the sword and the Demon God’s coin maker, those were already figured out. The coin maker was simple, since I could just copy the design from the actual thing and recreate it with Chaos God Core.
The sword was a bit more difficult, but Wilma and I managed to forge it, and Wilma is currently working on the enchants for it. The difficult part was not naming the sword, as the Hero must be the one to name it. So we’ve been referring to it by its title, The Hero’s Holy Sword. Or ‘the Hero’s sword’ or just ‘the sword’.
But yeah. The sword will be ready way before I am. Not that it is a surprise. Making a sword is much easier than figuring out time travel.
But, I need more packs to calm myself from all of the actual work I’ve been doing.
Well, to be more specific, I’ll be completing a set. The New Challengers. And if it doesn’t take too long, I’ll also update the Pendulum and Ritual challenges.
And since I’m completing a set, it starts with 200 packs, speedrun style.

21 new cards. Nice.
Let’s start with the normal Pendulums.
Lancephorhynchus has a good attack stat and when it is a Pendulum scale, it gives normal monsters piercing.
Qliphort Scout just searches Qli monsters, but that is exactly what you want it to do.
I’ll also go over Saqlifice now, since it is the only other Qli card, except Scout. It is great. 300 attack boost and battle destruction immunity are already nice. But then being able to act as 2 tributes, and Saqlifice searching when it is sent from the field to the GY just make it a great equip card.

Now … let’s just do the rest of the main deck monsters.
Denko Sekka is something. Preventing setting spells and traps doesn’t prevent spell use, but it does prevent delayed activation spells. Not that they are commonly used, as they can be challenging to use. And most of the time there is no need. But preventing trap setting should prevent people from making traps. And Denko Sekka also prevents trap activation.
Jiaotu, Darkness of the Yang Zing can allow for a double special summon from the deck.
Machina Megaform is nice. Special summoning from the deck and situational self resurrection.
Night Dragolich is an okay floodgate, but it could be better.
Performapal Trampolynx returns cards from the Pendulum zone to the hand. Which could be alright. I might get a card that sets a Pendulum scale from the deck and this thing can then return it to my hand.
Superheavy Samurai Scales is great. Free special summon and you even get to resurrect a Superheavy Samurai from the GY.
Zaborg the Mega Monarch is fine. The extra deck dump is sometimes used with Converging Wishes for an OTK, so it can be quite a lot of fun. But even outside of that, Zaborg is good.

Let’s do the spells and traps next, and save the extra deck for last.
1st Movement Solo specials a Melodious from the deck. So its great.
Fire Lake of the Burning Abyss destroys two of your Burning Abyss monsters, and then 3 other cards. Which can be alright, but it is just a worse version of Icarus Attack.
Solemn Scolding is a decent countertrap, but some of the other Solemn traps are better as they are more generic.

And that was all the spells and traps, so let’s move onto the extra deck monsters.
El Shaddoll Grysta can negate summons.
El Shaddoll Shekhinaga can negate effects.
First of the Dragons is interesting. Mainly because I’m not quite sure what counts as a ‘normal’ monster when it comes to people. And even outside of that, being unaffected by ‘monster’ effects is still great.
Frightfur Wolf can attack multiple times.
Herald of the Arc Light is great. I mean, it is a floodgate, kind of, can negate spells/traps/monster effects. And it searches if it goes to the GY.
Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing is fine. Honestly, it could be a bit better.
CXyz Barian Hope is nice enough. Shame it isn’t the anime version, where it gains the effects of the Number C monsters attached to it as Xyz material. That thing was busted since it could use each effect once per turn.
Last card is Stellarknight Triverr. Returning everything except itself to the hand on summon it really good. And it can randomly destroy stuff in your opponent’s hand.

Now, you know the deal. I’m checking what I’m missing and setting up the capsules for them.
And there were only seven of them. I’ll again start with the main deck stuff.
Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss is just a free special summon from the hand.
Rescue Hamster is situational. But it can summon 2 level 5 or lower monsters from the deck.
Qliphort Helix is a Qli. The only unique part about it is that if you tribute it, you get to pop a spell or trap.
Qliphort Disk allows you to special summon 2 Qlis from the deck when you tribute summon it. So yeah, nice and useful.

Now, we have one spell and two extra deck monsters.
El Shaddoll Fusion is a Quick-Play Poly for Shaddolls.
Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss can shuffle a card into the deck.
And Number 99: Utopic Dragon is a Number monster. And almost a Utopia monster. It has 4k attack and can negate targeting effects. And can special summon Numbers from the GY.

But yeah. That is The New Challengers completed. And since I have time, let’s see what my Pendulum and Ritual challenges are missing.
First, rituals. Since there are way fewer of them. In fact, I’ve only gotten 5 new ones since the last time I updated the challenge.
Paladin of Photon Dragon; Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon; Saffira, Queen of Dragons; Nekroz of Sophia; Herald of Ultimateness
Spoiler

Summoning all of them brought my total to 44, so I claimed the reward at 40, which was Saffira, Divine Dragon of the Voiceless Voice and Blessing of the Voiceless Voice. Interesting that I got a Saffira retrain after just summoning Saffira, Queen of Dragons.

Naturally I summoned the new Saffira, which brought my total to 45, and thus one more reward. That reward was Cynet Ritual and Cyberse Sage. She is cute and allows for fusion summons, as well as has an effect if used as Synchro material, but she is just a combo piece.

And next time I’ll be getting some Dogmatika cards. Don’t remember them, so must be newer than me being sent to this world. It does sound quite powerful, and 4k attack is always nice. Probably not as easy to summon as it seems like, as I feel like if printed as is, it would be too good. Or maybe it got banned. Or maybe the meta just got to the point where this is normal. This could be five or ten years to the future. No idea.
Sadly for me, it will just be a 4k beatstick. So Chaos-MAX is just better in every way. Also, how is he a Spellcaster and not a Fiend? He looks like an Archfiend.
Okay. Pendulums … will have to wait until next time. I have way too many of them. Sorry, not sorry. It isn’t my fault that I have 46 new Pendulum monsters. Blame the sets.
