CH.721 Human Rights? Not in this World
With the basic interrogation done, I wrote a report to the Narra Kingdom nobility. Which quickly turned into a more permanent punishment for the man.
For that, I took him to the Narra Kingdom’s capital, where I showed his memories to people. He tried to deny them, but his house had also been searched and a document related to his treason was found.
With that, the King found him guilty of treason. Not high treason, but whatever. Abandoning a country for a higher rank in the neighbouring one isn’t the same as trying to overthrow the monarchy or something.
He was given a five year slave sentence, but I requested his initial sentence be carried out as a prison sentence under my control. I told the King about my fears related to the states, well some of them anyway, and told him I wanted to experiment more with Power Structure.
Thus it was decided that for the first year, or less if I would be done before, I could hold onto U-90.
But it came with a caveat. I had to have an official from Narra Kingdom living on HomeBase, watching over all of my tests. They didn’t want me to carry out anything too unusual. He was also made the master of U-90.
Luckily I never planned anything too bad. Well, except maybe killing him to see if that gets rid of Power Structure. And you can’t prove I killed him if he is alive, right?
But that is for later. First we needed to figure out other things.
Starting with how we will keep the man safe. Because Power Structure can clearly take over someone’s mind remotely, and we don’t want that happening to him. Luckily we have a Soul Magic expert available, and the most likely way Power Structure works is with Soul Magic.
So we made a cell that is completely protected from Soul Magic. I wanted to set Remove Brainwashing on the man, having the activation condition be someone trying to control the person it is set on. But that would interfere with the slave mark, so I couldn’t do that.

And even if that wouldn’t be a problem, Remove Brainwashing would likely remove Power Structure. And I don’t want that just yet.
But I got another idea on how I might be able to remove Power Structure from people. Quite the simple one at that. Mystical Space Typhoon.

In theory, I can destroy the title with it. In theory. But sadly, we couldn’t exactly test it either. Not without losing our test subject. Sure I also secured E-411 and E-412 for my own tests, but they no longer had the title, so they weren’t a big help.
But we could test it on something else. Specifically Storage Access. Five of my six wives have it, and we can just re-establish it if it breaks. So I used MST on Unika, destroying her Storage Access title and removing her access to it. That confirmed that title based unique skill interactions can be destroyed by MST.
Yes, we did remake the link. I’m not leaving Unika without access.
I then scanned the memories of 7-E-411 and 7-E-412. Sadly I didn’t get anything too much out of that. I did see their direct superior, whom I assume is just 7-E. I saw how they were brought into the Power Structure, how 7-E gave them skills, and how they were given the job of spying on the adventuring tournament. However they were forbidden from using the Factory VR, as it might detect them. So the states know about it as well.
And while I wish I would have learned more, I did learn that Power Structure can indeed be used to give skills. So it likely can also be used to take skills. Thus E-411 and E-412 losing three of their skills, specifically the ones they were given. As well as the boosts to the skills they had also getting reclaimed.
I did another spy flight in the States. I tried to find out if they've figured out what happened with the spies. They probably did, but I wanted to be sure.
And the answer is yes. They knew that 7-E-411 and 7-E-412 died, but didn’t know they had been resurrected. They did know that the skills from them had been reclaimed.
And they knew that 6-U-90 was unreachable. But they didn’t know if he was alive or not. So that means that dead and unreachable are the same thing from the point of view of the Power Structure. They can’t reclaim skills from a dead person.
I also heard that they’d send 7-E-77 and 7-E-78 to check on 6-U-90’s house. And since we knew that, we could prepare and capture them as well. And since 7-E-numbers are the ones they sent, again, it seems like that is some sort of spy or … espionage group. 7-Espionage? Could be. But then why is 2-A the parliament? Also why is the parliament under Power Structure 2? Power Structure 2 was the False Dragon-kin female. So why is the parliament under her and not the artificial Magic Elf?
I also learned that it doesn’t have to be the originator who mind controls the person. As I was spying on the meeting, which was happening in that secret vault, on top of the usual 5, Power Structure 6 and 7 were also there. They were both in the early 100s in terms of levels. 7 had a unique skill called Mental Map while 6 had Humanoid Taming.
Humanoid Taming is just what it sounds like. With it, Power Structure 6 can make a taming contract with people. Honestly just slavery. She also had a few other slavery related skills, but she really wasn’t all that strong, combat vice, considering her level. Much more of a commander or planner.
7 had skills related to movement, like Mana Flight, Flickering Step, Hiding, etc. As well as racial skills an elf like him shouldn’t have. Enhanced Vision, Enhanced Hearing and more. So skills given to him by someone. Skills he’d then share with his underlings. And with Mental Map, he might know where all of his ‘subordinates’ are at all times.
So back to what 6 and 7 said. 6 mentioned that 6-U had been trying to get in touch with U-90 and that she had also attempted it herself. So because of that I began to understand how the entire Power Structure works. While I don’t know how many of the ‘origin numbers’, as I began calling them, there are, I do know the letters can manage the numbers below them.
Since I’ve only seen 1 to 7 now, until further notice, I’ll assume there can only be 9 or 10 origin numbers. Either 1 to 9 or 0 to 9. Technically there might be more. Actually, maybe there can be as many origin numbers as the skill level of Power Structure. That could be it.
Under each of them there can be the entire alphabet, A to Z. So 26 letters. At least I’ll assume so, as I’ve seen up to U.
And under each of them there can be more than 400 people, since I’ve seen the 7-E-412. So maybe that can go up to 999.
If I assume it to be so, that is terrifying. Ten origin numbers, 26 letters under each of them, and one thousand sub numbers under them. That is potentially 260,000 people under this Power Structure. And clearly at least some of them are disposable.
And that is assuming there are only ten origin numbers. And that there are only 26 letters. And that there can only be 1000 sub numbers. And that there can’t be more letters under the sub numbers.
If there are more variables, the numbers will go up even more. In theory, all of the United States could be under the Power Structure.
… is that why they are called the United States? All united under one power. The Power Structure.
The other thing for today … okay, it is no longer the same day, but you get the point. Is time travel.
After the first experiment, which I haven’t even done yet, I realized that I need to perform another one. One that isn’t from as far into the future.
Time travel gets more difficult as you go forward in time, so I need to test if I can even travel back in time. So I decided I’d start by doing just a five minute jump back in time, and I wouldn’t worry about returning to the future. I’d just let the five minutes pass while not annoying my past self.
Alice and I prepared the spells for it, Factory tested them which was strange already, and then it was time for the IRL test. It felt strange just sitting in my office alone. Mainly because I knew I wasn’t alone.
“I know you are there.” I said to myself. “I confirmed with Soul Search.”
Despite that, the me from about five minutes into the future didn’t respond. Of course he didn’t. I didn’t plan to either.
When the time approached, I turned on Invisibility and Intangibility from the Numeron Code. I then chanted the necessary spell, and as it finished casting, I felt time shift around me.
That really made me realize how strange time travel felt. It took little more than an instant, but the amount of information my brain took in as the clocks ran in reverse made it feel like it took more than the five minutes I traveled back.
“... holy shit that didn’t feel right.” I said, luckily while still intangible. Because of that, there is no way the past me sitting in front of me heard me. I mean, I didn’t hear me, so …
“I know you are there.” My past self said. “I confirmed with Soul Search.”
Oh? It was this close to when I traveled. Well, whatever.
Laura quickly got to work, finding out anything she could about issues we had with the System. And there were some.
Because there were currently two of me, two Holder Ami Brian Woods, in this point in time, the System had some potential issues with us. Mainly about which of our Storages should link with Storage Access. Luckily my Laura was quickly able to deal with it, redirecting it to my past self.
No. I hadn’t yet figured out how to do the System masking thing the even further in the future me had figured out. And honestly, with the sensory overload the time travel caused, I’m lucky I only traveled five minutes.
And it makes me extremely worried about what will happen when I travel almost 1400 years to the past.
Luckily during the five minutes I waited for my past self to disappear, I came up with a few ideas. Mainly a spell or skill that would shut off my senses for the duration of the time travel.
I should be able to do that by mixing Dragonic Body, Demonic Might and Vampiric Body Modification. I can just remove all sensory organs I have temporarily. Sure it will be terrifying, but it might be better in the long run.
Or maybe I can detach my soul from my body? Or somehow keep my soul in my body, but block my senses from coming from my body to my soul?
I’ll theorize about that later, as my past self just turned himself invisible. But I know he is still here, and I didn’t appear until he was gone. So I waited about another minute before I casted Soul Search. And since my past self was no longer here, I undid Invisibility and Intangibility, before taking a seat on my office’s chair.
After Laura made sure Storage Access was still working, I called Alice and Janina to my room. Alice to fill her in on the success and Janina to ask her if Soul Magic could be used to reduce the sensory inputs I get while time traveling.
But before either of the two got to hear my questions, Lua appeared and performed a medical check on me. While also saying I should have immediately headed to her after the test.
Luckily everything was alright, so she let us continue to the next test of the day.
And that was traveling forward in time. Again, I was only traveling a couple of minutes, but it would still be important to know if I could do it.
Alice and Janina watched over me as I chanted the other time travel spell, and I jumped what was only 81 seconds forward in time.
But that 81 seconds was more than enough to learn a few things. Mainly that during that time, I hadn’t existed. Technically speaking.
No, I didn’t disappear from everyone's memories. But things like Storage Access were crossed out during that time, Cailie felt that someone she had blessed had ‘disappeared’, and the monsters I’ve tamed and can summon also felt that I wasn’t there. Even Hope realized that something happened, and summoned herself to confirm that I was alright.
I didn’t know demons could summon themselves, so I learned something new. I gave Hope a miasma stone in return for that, as she used one of hers to be able to summon herself.
I had another medical check by Lua. Then I summoned all of my monsters and apologized to them, and also spent some time with my tamed monsters to reassure them.
All in all, successful experiments. Traveling backwards in time is a sensory overload. … or right, I didn’t mention traveling forward. It really didn’t have that issue. Sure there was a feeling of having the world fast forward around me, but it wasn’t all that bad. I think that is because when traveling backwards in time, I can mess with the time-space continuum, but while traveling forward, I can’t.
Thus, when traveling backwards, the world resists more? Maybe. Well, we have more experiments to run, but that does seem to be the case.
