The River Child had only just charged through the gates of Divine Billows Palace when a glinting painted halberd swung at his head.
Cold light flashed, and waves of divine flame swept forth. It was just one strike, but it cleaved the sky asunder with terrifying power.
The River Child’s gaze was dark and cold. He neither dodged nor shrank back.

The painted halberd split. Fragments scattered, and the tall man was sent flying backward. He was still mid-air when he instinctively looked down and saw a bloody hole right through his chest.
