Chapter 11: Engagement Party (2)
Christian walked farther into the garden, unaware that I’d been watching his every move. I watched him make his way to the area with the tall rosebushes before he disappeared from my sight.
Without wasting time, I quickly glanced at my Mother and Morgan, ensuring that they saw me go inside.
The moment I stepped through the doorway, I couldn’t help but smile. My heart was racing as a flood of dirty thoughts invaded my mind.
I walked past the servants and then took a sudden turn, entering a small side room that was hardly ever used.
Just a little farther.
I continued to weave through the adjacent rooms, staying hidden, until I entered a small supply room.
Inside was the window I was looking for. It led directly into the lower section of the gardens, where the tall hedges were—where Christian was.
After a quick breath, I climbed through the window and ran over to the back section of the garden.

The air was filled with the scent of roses, and I could hear the music and chatter from the party not far away. My heart skipped with excitement as this was the first time I’d ever done anything so daring.
I lifted the skirt of my dress and ran farther in, staying on my tippy toes so that my heels wouldn’t make too much noise.
