Now that Kenny had mentioned it, when I focused on it, I realized that he had a scent, and not just a normal alpha scent, but that of an enigma. I gasped, my eyes widening and my mouth falling open just as my gaze locked with Kenny’s equally startled ones, right before we both glanced at a shocked Jason. From the expression on his face right now, it was clear that he was also just realizing.
"Oh god." I whispered as I took in a deep breath: all that flooded my lungs was the scent that I knew of Jason the last time we met and had that one night stand. The same scent I’ve imagined smelling in my dreams countless times after I fled to the city.
"H- how..." Jason began, still clearly shocked and too stunned to form a sentence.
"Your enigma..." I began, eyes still blown open. Kenny’s eyes darted towards me, his eyes glistening brighten.
"That’s- that’s how his enigma actually smells?" He whispered and I realized that Kenny never knew Jason when he still had his enigma so he never got to know what his wolf At its final form smelt like, I nodded vigorously in response before focusing on Jacob again. Jason pressed a finger against his closeted eyes, and before I could ask what was happening, a teardrop rolled down his cheeks. I blinked slowly before gently reached for his hand and tugging it off, and as his eyes fluttered open, tears swam in his eyes as it locked with mine and it was also brimming with so much love and affection as it darted between Kenny and I a few times before he finally spoke.
"I can’t believe this is happening. I- I can feel my enigma right now." He revealed as his second hand began to rub against his chest.
"Right here. I can feel it, and its presence it’s so alive and unlike something I’ve ever felt before." He continued and I tugged him forward into a hug, his chest pressed against my chest as he cried quietly. Kenny wrapped his arms around us and we remained in the same position for a few moments till he pulled away, his eyes still shining with tears but also happiness, so much of it.
"After my wolf died, I thought I’d never get to experience this again." He began and Kenny went ahead to explain to me that when he and Jason came to Alex’s place to find me, Jason’s wolf got killed completely by a shot from a syringe. I let out a long sigh filled with so much relief and happiness as I watched the two of them hug each other a few times.
