Chapter 191: Only Time Will Tell
Kylian lowered his gaze down, making a contemplating expression before he answered in a low murmur, "I was already aware that Zenith adores me dearly, but to be honest, I didn’t expect he would be shaken up like that. Also, the prediction of the ritual made me realize Zenith is way important to me more than I had imagined to make me overwhelmed with such uneasy emotions which resulted in our argument.
"All these emotional turmoils that I am experiencing, they’re all first time for me, and I neither knew I could ever feel this way towards an Alpha, the hierarchy whom I truly hated. But now that he suddenly bolted out of here on his own, I can somewhat realize that it was my fault to get him mad like that. His reaction was quite natural..."
"Well, of course, if we love someone from the core of our heart and that person asks us to move apart, that would have felt too painful for him to make his emotions erupt like that. That’s why, I do not blame him completely, but...I am glad it has made you realize your worth to him. So...you shouldn’t be saying such things to him, my child, especially when his heart has been already scarred with old wounds and fear of abandonment."
With a gentle pat on Kylian’s head, the elderly man spoke like a true guardian while helping him get a better handle on the situation.
When the things were properly explained, Kylian felt a tinge of guilt growing inside his heart for making Zenith feel that way when he had always openly showered him with his sincere affection.
With a heavy exhale, Kylian lifted his glum eyes to meet the elderly monk’s face as his voice sounded restless, "Sir, never in my distant dreams I had ever imagined finding my fated mate in this world...and thinking about I found it in someone as perfect as Zenith, in comparison to whom I am quite inferior, it was beyond my shock.
"But now that I have known that from you already...I also have a gut feeling that...you must’ve been already aware of the outcome of that ritual, right? Isn’t that why you asked me to test and see the result myself? Is...this your way of warning us about the upcoming future? Will we not find happiness with each other?"
Kylian’s overwhelming dread and nervousness written on his face let out a small serene smile curved his lips as the elderly monk patted his head gently, as if to calm his nerves a bit before he spoke, "I won’t completely deny saying that I didn’t have the hunch of something that was bound to happen like this. It is true that was the reason why I wanted to let you both have a glimpse at it.
"But, always remember, the future is a mystery...but consider the present as your gift, my child. We can’t change our destiny...but if the divine Mother has tied you both together with the red thread of fate, then there must be a specific reason behind it. That’s why, instead of worrying about the future, why don’t you hold his hand tight for now and walk along this path of life?"
