Chapter 172: You Must Be Miserable
{FLASHBACK: 14 Years Ago, Remsworth Mansion}

~ "I knew this would happen! You made such a a ridiculous choice to come here, now what’s the point of getting scared?"
Like always, Barnes’s beta wolf Jules growled bluntly inside him, as if he could evidently sense the harrowing anxiety Barnes was enduring inside, despite being a small kid himself. From a few other maids, he had known the wolves would usually awaken inside them when they attained the age of 18, which was supposedly considered normal in their society.
But to his own surprise, Barnes awakened his wolf when he was only 13, which made him feel too shocked to believe it was real! Compared to his soft, compassionate nature, Jules was quite rigid and outspoken which sometimes made Barnes feel a little vexed, considering how he used to nag at him.
And even now, when he was already panicking from hearing the sound of footsteps, Jules’s words made him grunt, "You should just stop whining at me always, Jules."
~ "Because your stupid decisions make me mad! I can’t help it...why did I have to awaken in someone as dumb as you, ugh!"
As expected, instead of silencing, when his wolf growled angrily once again, Barnes started deliberately looking around himself and found a giant pillar close to the room.
Quickly he ran ahead to hide behind the pillar, and by that moment, the head maid of the mansion had already reached the hallway by climbing up the stairs. She was carrying a big bowl of boiling hot water, with white flames spreading all around her.
