Chapter 168: He was an Alpha, right?
Inside the magnificent dining hall of the Agastya mansion, Dolemort had the first seat of the wide-spread dining table and Vanessa was seated on the far opposite end of the table. The atmosphere in the hall was serious, as none of them spoke a word first. Moreover, their table was filled with light breakfast cuisine and two maids were serving them the breakfast.
Right next to Dolemort’s seat, Mr. Clark stood tall, holding a tablet as he was conveying his schedule planned for the rest of the day. Dolemort was silently focused on buttering his toast while listening to Mr. Clark, but on the other hand, Vanessa seemed a bit fidgety.
Dressed in an exquisite peach-colored silk gown with heavy makeup on her face to make her look younger compared to her age, she was fiddling with her fingertips without touching the breakfast platter.
After Mr. Clark was finished conveying his schedule, as if she was waiting for the chance, Vanessa mumbled with a small cough to clear her dry throat, "I...have something to say."
Dolemort coldly lifted his piercing gaze on her face, which made her wince a little, before she pursed her lips, "I have...found a new doctor who can help me with conceiving for you. I have already met the lady doctor and she told me...the procedure might be lengthy, but the success rate is higher in my case, since...I am a dominant omega."
Mr. Clark frowned his brows while pushing his glass frame over his nose ridge, looking a little vexed from his expression after he heard her. But Dolemort didn’t show a change of expression and calmly took a small sip of orange juice, before he deepened his voice, "I think it’s high time you should admit that you’ve failed to give me an heir, Vanessa. Barren trees can’t bear fruits, no matter how hard you try."
"B-But...I am sure, this time I can definitely succeed." As if his words had made her feel a bit offended, she gritted her jaws while conversing in a stiff tone, "I...have already spoken to this doctor about my miscarriage from 13 years ago, and...she has assured me that she’ll help me with the situation—"
"If only you hadn’t been stupid enough to not watch your steps and stumble down the stairs, by now we would’ve been already blessed with another child." Intervening in between her words, Dolemort’s tone sounded vexed when he darted a discontented gaze towards Vanessa before he continued.
"I guess, I must’ve thought highly of you who could give me a second heir, despite being a dominant omega. Even though you’re my fated pair, I will always openly express my disappointment towards you, Vanessa. Besides, I have already given up on the idea of creating a family with you, so you should just do the same."
