Chapter 150: You’ll be fine right?
"Mom? I have been waiting for your call since yesterday, but I could never reach you...do you realize how much you had me scared? I couldn’t reach Granny Elma’s phone either...and I felt like I was weighing a huge block of fear on my chest all this time! Didn’t you tell her to inform me first? How could you scare me like that, Mom?"
Kylian’s loud excited shriek flinched Zenith too, as he lifted his gaze up from the porridge bowl and watched Kylian standing up from the chair to stroll back and forth inside the dining hall. Speaking over the phone, he looked too excited to smile and complain anxiously at the same time, but his ocean eyes which seemed a bit grim until now had lit up radiantly after receiving Marita’s call.
"Oh my baby, I am really sorry, but I was too exhausted from the surgery yesterday...and maybe that’s why, Granny Elma also forgot to let you know as she was busy tending me." Marita let out a small heartfelt chuckle as if she was truly grateful to hear Kylian’s voice when she spoke in a soft voice.
"You don’t have to apologize, Mom. How are you feeling now? Do you want me to come over there—"
"I am really okay now, Kyle. The operation was a huge success and I am almost on my way of recovering completely. I am admitted to a very good hospital, and they tend their patients very carefully. That’s why, I regained my strength a little today to talk to you. I missed you a lot, my baby..."
Even though Marita tried to pretend cheerful over the phone call, somehow a part of his heart made Kylian feel an intuition that her voice had a hint of sadness in it.
But putting his overthinking aside as he was finally able to speak to her, Kylian’s eyes curved with joy when he mumbled, "I missed you too, Mom! I am so glad to hear that you’re in a good hospital and they’re giving you great care. You don’t understand how grateful I feel to our Holy Moon Goddesses for making the surgery successful... Mom, you’ll be completely fine, right?"
Keenly watching Kylian speak in such a jovial tone stirred a feeling of guilt inside Zenith with which he lowered his gaze down from him. As he had given his word to Marita, he was bound to keep everything a secret from Kylian, but right now watching him talk so happily to his mother made him realize once again how much she must’ve meant to him...
But Zenith was also very aware, that the dark truth about Marita’s way of sending Kylian to the Elite Academy would brutally crush his innocent heart to the point he would blame everything upon himself, falling into the pit of despair.
