Chapter 73: Hold On Tight
Both Zenith and Kylian jolted hard from the sudden call behind them, but before Kylian could turn around, Zenith’s protective instincts as the Alpha took over him as he hurriedly guarded Kylian behind him as a shield, before approaching the figure who stood at a few steps apart them.
It was a young handsome unknown man, most probably in his late 20s, dressed in a black suit, a white shirt inside, and a black necktie. That guy retained a mysterious look on his round face, but Zenith snarled at him using his domineering tone, before letting him speak, "Goodness, how could you suddenly pop out behind us like a freakin’ ghost? Who are you? Did you follow us here?"
"No, Master. I was waiting for your arrival here all this time. I was...sent by Mr. Clark."
It seemed Zenith’s grunt had made him a bit nervous as the guy fretfully answered, trying to avert his gaze down from him. Even though he was older than both Zenith and Kylian, among the three, Zenith was the tallest one with a great muscular physique which was enough to warn any guy never to mess with him.
Besides, his pheromones were always strongly emitted, but before leaving the hospital, Dr. Albert had injected Kylian with a new pheromone inhibitor drug so that his sweet scent wouldn’t be discovered by anyone in the Academy, at least for a week before the drug wears off.
Zenith coldly scanned that guy from head to toe, realizing he was one of Mr. Clark’s trusted boys whom he had asked to lend him before. That guy seemed like a beta, but after his initial observation was done, Zenith asked him, "What’s your name?"
"B-Barnes, Master."
"Are you a beta?"
"Yes, I am."
"Excuse me, but why are you suddenly interviewing this guy in the middle of the road?" Unable to suppress his curiosity in the awkward situation that rose between Zenith and Barnes, Kylian intervened as he came forward and stood next to Zenith while urging him, "Also, can’t you see your tone is scaring him?"
Possessiveness and Protectiveness were the two basic and most important traits an Alpha was born within this world. But whenever any matter concerned Kylian, Zenith strangely struggled to keep two of those overwhelming emotions in check.
