Chapter 62: Like A Star
As soon as the call was disconnected, Kylian slowly lowered his arms holding his phone, sensing as if his body’s strength was draining away with the drifting waves that touched his cold bare feet.
Before walking close to the sea, he was mindful enough to take off his sneakers, since it was the only branded thing Marita could afford to buy for him as a gift before sending him off to the Elite Academy.
However, knowing that Kylian would definitely refuse to accept such an expensive gift, she had secretly packed it inside his luggage which he came to find out during his train journey. She knew Kylian was always very fond of branded shoes, so she had managed to pick a perfect pair that would suit his liking.
Even in his shocked and bashful state when he managed to escape from Zenith’s room, he had left almost all his luggage behind in his room, but he didn’t forget to put on his precious parting gift from Marita.
Thus, he couldn’t risk such a precious gift to get wet in seawater, however, while taking them off, his absentminded self failed to realize he was keeping those shoes at an approachable distance from the waves.
It was already past afternoon, and watching the bright radiant sun slowly moving to the horizon side of the sea, Kylian blankly stared at the scenario ahead of him with his tearful bleak eyes. An unusual feeling of numbness had stifled his heart from inside, making him ponder everything that had been happening to him now since last night.
Marita’s answer from before had left him deeply hurt inside, but neither he could speak a word about it, apart from faking a clumsy smile. Even though Zenith had created the mess in the first place by lying to her about his transition, but if he hadn’t done so, Marita would have crumbled into the void of an inconsolable grief.
Only thinking about such a situation was growing his suffocation inside, to the point that Kylian took a few deep breaths to calm himself a bit.
At the end of the call, somehow he had a hunch that Marita’s voice sounded quite sadder, even though she was smiling consistently throughout the phone call.
