Chapter 448: Arranged Marriage
"All of these things happened and I had no idea about it?" Thalia, Anastasia’s cousin asked, her hands dramatically over her lips as she stared at Anastasia in shock. "We all thought that you were dead."
They were in the grand living room of the Harrison mansion, the stately home belonging to James Harrison—Robert Harrison’s younger brother and Thalia’s father. The sunlight filtered through tall windows, casting a warm glow on the polished floors.
Anastasia gave a slight shrug, the faintest shadow of weariness crossing her face. "I didn’t want to tell you. I didn’t want to put you in danger."
Thalia shook her head with a wry smile. "Who cares? You know I love danger." Her laughter was light, and soon the two girls were giggling together, the warmth of their reunion softening the weight of the conversation.
Anastasia missed her cousin. After everything that had happened in the past few months, Anastasia was glad that she finally got to spend time with her friends and family once again.
From the top of the grand staircase, James Harrison descended, his eyes locking onto Anastasia with a sharp, calculating look—one that made her uneasy. She met his gaze calmly, saying nothing. If something was wrong, she knew he would speak soon enough even though she already had an idea of what it could be.
"I still can’t believe all these happened to you, yet you don’t look like someone who’d gone through so much in the past year," Thalia said, her eyes softening.
Even Anastasia couldn’t believe it. All her plans had taken a downturn after the truth had been revealed, with Xander’s change which led to his father’s death.
Unfortunately, he was still in a coma.
Then her mind went to Xavier. Not once did he leave her to think she was going through everything alone.
A smile stretched on Anastasia’s lips. "Surely it wasn’t easy. But with Xavier by my side, I was able to overcome all my struggles."
Thalia cooed. "Oh Anastasia...when will I get my one true love?" She wondered and Anastasia giggled.
