However, while the girls were still shocked, wondering how they would escape the men until they reached the finish line without the hunters drawing blood from them, Anastasia didn’t find Avery looking the slightest disturbed by the new rule. If anything, she only looked eager for the game to start.
"Let the game begin!" Samantha urged.
The men wore their night vision goggles and the girls were to run into the forest and prepare to be hunted.
They were scattered because teamwork while striving to survive the night without getting killed was highly prohibited.
Anastasia ran up ahead, stepping on stones and tree leaves so that her footmark wouldn’t appear on the ground. If it did, the night vision goggles the men were wearing would detect it.
She needed to get to the location where Avery had informed her would be their escape route. It was far from where she was and she knew that because she wasn’t seeing any forbidden barriers that marked they were starting to overstep their boundaries in the forest.
Anastasia would take a few steps from running and then stop to preserve her heat. She had no idea if night vision goggles could detect heat from someone, but if it was a highly advanced one, then she wasn’t taking any chances.
Anastasia glanced up, trying to find any CCTV cameras planted on trees but she didn’t spot any. It seemed Samantha and Xander were underestimating the girls and dared them to escape. But they knew no one had the guts to do so.
Anastasia was glad no cameras were watching her, else it would’ve been difficult to find her way to the forbidden areas without alarming them.
