Chapter 285: Leave Him Alone
"Someone like me?" She asked, confusion etched in her expression. "What do you mean by someone like me, Mom?" Arabella added, feeling hurt this time around.
Her mother and father exchanged a look when she realized she had worded her words wrongly.
"I’m sorry," she apologized. "But you know our status is way below Xander’s status. He’s from a rich family, and I can assure you that the rich people have nothing to do with us the poor people."
The woman tried to make Arabella understand how risky it was for her—who was a complete nobody to date a man—whose family was one of the richest families in their city.
Arabella completely understood where her mother was coming from. She was no child to think the rich people lived in peace just because they had all the money they could get.
They also have enemies like the poor people—like her, and they don’t want anything to do with poor people...
Xander had asked her to be his girlfriend on their date and she’d gladly given him a positive answer without thinking about the differences in their family status.
"If Xander doesn’t care about my status, then why should I worry, mother?" She asked.
"You are not understanding what we’re saying, darling." Her father interrupted, heavier worry etched on his face. "We completely understand that you’re a teenager and you want to experience love and being loved. It’s completely normal. However, sharing such an intimate relationship with someone like Xander—whose father I’m sure wouldn’t be happy with the news when the boy discloses it to his father you both are dating—will only bring you trouble."
