Chapter 216: Good Deal
Without further warning, Tracie burst into tears and Anastasia quickly wrapped her hands around her to soothe her, gently patting her back.
"You’ve been blaming yourself this whole time, forcing me to hate you," Anastasia began softly. "I have to admit, there was a point when I did hate you. Just for a little while." She gently pulled Tracie away and cupped her cheeks, wiping away her tears.
"But you’re still my sister, and no matter what you do, you can’t change that. Even if you make it your life’s mission to make me hate you, I won’t. I should be thanking you for saving Xavier back then. If you hadn’t..." She paused, her voice trembling as she struggled to imagine what might have happened if Tracie hadn’t stepped in.
"You’re just saying that to make me feel better," said Tracie.
"I am." Anastasia smiled while Tracie scoffed playfully. "Although I can’t remember my memories back then since Robert tampered with it, let’s make new memories, big sis," she suggested, wiping the leftover tears that stained Tracie’s face. "You just had to cry so much, your makeup is ruined."
"Forget about that, I will just wash my face later. As for Robert, is he still alive?" She asked.
Anastasia took a moment, a smirk pulling on her lips before she replied, "He’s dead."
"I hope you made it painful for him."
"Of course," Anastasia replied.
It had been some time since Anastasia reclaimed her properties. Robert had succumbed to her relentless torture and now lay dead. Jack was slowly chipping away at his debt, with a hefty sum of 20 million dollars still owed to her. Amelia, Gary, and Jack had retreated to a secluded apartment, hiding away from the world.
As for Michelle, Anastasia found great amusement in watching her spiral into trouble, and the anticipation for the upcoming award show only fueled her excitement further.
