Chapter 187: We Have To Get Rid Of Her
She called Jack next, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "And you, Jack? The best big brother in the world. You and Mother have been getting quite close lately, whispering secrets to each other, hiding things from the rest of the family." She paused, letting her words sink in before continuing with a darker tone. "If it were anyone else, they might think the two of you were plotting how to kill Father."
Both Amelia and Jack’s faces turned as pale as a blank sheet of paper. They gulped hard, nearly choking on their own saliva as their hearts sank into their stomachs. The nausea was overwhelming, twisting their insides as if they’d just consumed something toxic. They felt as though they were on the verge of vomiting, completely overwhelmed by the weight of what had just said.
Michelle stared at her mother and father, wondering what Anastasia could have meant—the same situation Robert was in.
"What’s that supposed to mean? What are you trying to prove here, Anastasia?" Jack questioned after he recovered, sweating buckets.
"When did I say I was trying to prove anything?" Anastasia questioned back, the grin stretching more on her lips which they couldn’t see. "I only stated my concerns," she added. "Well now, I only called to hear your voices to be sure you are still alive. Now that I’ve heard your voices, I will be going now. But don’t worry, I won’t be gone for long. I’m coming back home, Mom and Dad. Our family is finally going to be complete."
Without giving them a chance to speak, Anastasia hung up on the call, leaving them to wonder and figure out what her next actions would be, while they panicked.
Robert threw his phone on the couch, not caring where it’d landed. His blood boiled at the realization that he’d messed up badly when it came to making sure Anastasia disappeared completely.
’I only had one job, and I messed it up!’ He yelled at himself as he pulled his hair in frustration.
"You don’t have to worry father, Anastasia still doesn’t have anything heavy on us. Yes, she does have the pictures and when she released them, it would cause a disaster, but that’s all that would possibly happen," Jack said, trying to distract Robert from asking him any questions regarding what Anastasia had said earlier.
