Chapter 1481 - 1484: You’re Not Usually This Polite_1
"I understand, Mother!"
About one hour later, the carriage stopped in front of a residence.
Then they heard Old Mu calling out, "Xiaxia, we’re here!"
Yang Chuxia glanced briefly at the residence’s exterior before leading the children inside, following Old Mu.
Once inside the house, Yang Chuxia gave a bow to Old Mu, "Granduncle!"
"Oh, it’s been several years, and you’ve become so polite!" Old Mu laughed at his own comment. He remembered the days he used to steal broad beans from the Yang Family and even got into a fight with this girl. In the blink of an eye, so many years had passed, and the little girl from back then had become a mother herself.
Thinking of this, Old Mu’s gaze shifted to Yangyang standing next to Yang Chuxia.
Seeing him looking her way, Yangyang stepped forward and gave a deep bow, "Greetings to Granduncle!"
"Yangyang, is it? You’ve grown up quite nicely!" Old Mu said as he took out a small jade thumb ring and handed it to him, "Here, this is from granduncle. Have fun playing with it."
Upon receiving this, Yangyang looked at Yang Chuxia and, after seeing her nod, stepped forward to accept it, "Thank you, Granduncle!"
"This little fellow, you need to ask your mother even when taking something from granduncle?" Old Mu ruffled his little head.
"Mother said not to casually accept things from others," Yangyang crisply replied.
"Granduncle is not an outsider," retorted Old Mu.
Afterward, he looked at Yang Chuxia’s side and noticed she was alone with the children. He then asked, "Where’s Linyu? Why didn’t she come back to the Capital City? And Yunyun? Why hasn’t she visited the Capital City either?"
"Granduncle, before we came from Shandong, Linhao sent a letter saying he would be heading to Funan soon. Hearing this, the two girls decided to stay behind, stating they would visit Shandong next spring and might come to the Capital City then," replied Yang Chuxia.
"I see, that’s fine," Old Mu said, not asking any further questions.
Yang Chuxia couldn’t help but feel speechless. Was this her real father? How many years had it been since he had seen Linyu, and he didn’t even ask about her, not even a little? Didn’t he miss her at all?
That made no sense. Look at Brother An; if he went a short period without seeing his daughter, he would yearn so much it was unbearable. Once he saw her, he would hold her every chance he got, making Mu Shaoling almost envious. How come Old Mu didn’t seem to miss his daughter at all? His heart was indeed big.
"This residence is mine; you all will stay here for these days. Brother An used to stay here too when he visited. Let’s spend the New Year in the Capital City this year. Anyway, in a few days, Brother An will also come to the Capital City to report for duty."
"Before coming, I discussed the same thing with Brother An, but it does mean imposing on granduncle for a while," she said.
"Are you talking nonsense?" Old Mu shook his head, "What imposition? This residence is usually empty since I don’t live here. The servants have nothing to do and are overly idle. It’s better with you here, to find them some chores. It’s not good for them to be taking my silver without working for it. Any courtyard here, pick whatever you like. Whichever room you want to stay in, stay in it."
"Alright, thank you, Granduncle!" Yang Chuxia replied.
Then they suddenly heard Yangyang ask, "Granduncle, when can we see Brother?"
Yang Chuxia also looked at Old Mu upon hearing this.
Old Mu smiled and said, "You guys get settled first, have some food and rest a bit. This afternoon I’ll go to the palace to ask the Emperor’s permission, then I’ll bring him out to see you."
"Thank you very much, Granduncle."
After being thanked twice, Old Mu became unhappy, "Cheeky girl, being so courteous isn’t like you. Why say ’thank you’ among family? If anyone should be saying ’thank you,’ it’s me. Linyu and Linhao have stayed so long at your place; shouldn’t I be the one thanking you?"
