Bai Shan put away the medicine container and, during the break between classes, went to ask Peng Zhiru and Lu Xiaofu, "Do you know Zhang Jinghao?"
Peng Zhiru and Lu Xiaofu were taken aback for a moment before shaking their heads, "Never heard of him, is he a student at our National Academy?"
"No, he’s from the Highest Institute."
"Oh, from the Highest Institute, I’ve only heard of Feng Chenxiang and Ren Ke, not too familiar with the others. What about him?"
Bai Shan shook his head, "Nothing, just asking."
After a pause, Peng Zhiru said, "If you want to inquire about someone, it’s best to ask the other students in the class. They are mostly here by imperial grace and know a lot of people."
Bai Shan nodded but did not just ask anyone. The students at the National Academy were much more arrogant than those at the Prefecture School. He wasn’t close with them, and it wouldn’t be appropriate to probe when the relationship was superficial. He had no intention of asking them.
However, during the lunch break, Bai Shan went to have lunch and happened to walk with Yin Huo. He asked him, "Do you know Zhang Jinghao?"
Yin Huo shook his head with a bewildered face, "Who is he?"
"Nobody," since he didn’t know, Bai Shan said, "Let’s go, time to eat."
Yin Huo then pursed his lips.
