Chapter 581 186: Campaign Mission, Strike First
"13 days... You two can really run."
The crowd was amazed.
This new version of the map is indeed vast, but most areas are desert, barely a blade of grass to be seen. The modeling is quite lazy, lacking anything interesting.
And it's not like we're going on a tour. To search in the desolate Evil Land for thirteen days, even they wouldn't do such a thing.
It's both boring and dangerous, not to mention the mandatory eight-hour offline period each day, which is just a waste of precious game time for them.
But instead of wondering why the two decided to wander for so long, players are more curious about where the enemy is and how the experts found their hideout.
Wildman moved aside and pushed the map of California and a pen towards them.
"Where are they located?"
The expert took off his jacket and goggles and tossed them aside, causing the dust to shake off like the weight of two taels.
Then, holding the pen, he started to draw in front of everyone.
"The exact location is unclear, but we can confirm it's to our east."
He and the Demon May Cry used exploring the map's boundary as an excuse to leave the main force, only to receive news of their home being looted shortly after they left.
Players discussed and concluded this wasn't a simple monster siege but rather deliberate retaliation. Big Sur might even be attacked.
So the two wandering outside decided to give it a shot, mapping Northern California while discussing the possible enemy direction and general location.
They weren't even sure if it was the Chaotic Blade Association or Huang Ban coming, nor the method of attack.
Theoretically, Huang Ban sending a fleet across the Pacific to airstrike Big Sur wasn't impossible.
If that were the case, there would be no need to fight; they might as well dig their graves and wait to die.
"This time the area for building the water plant is within the U.S. Highway 1. Directly north, there's a military-tech infantry camp, well-equipped with firepower. Considering the NPC intelligence in this game, it's unlikely they'd face this iron wall head-on."
"To the south is Night City, where even the slightest disturbance is all over the news. But we haven't heard anything yet, so the likelihood is low."
"Plus, the terrain in California is very complex, with vast mountains and deserts to the east, frequent sandstorms, many areas unsuitable for human habitation or migration."
"Also, the recent robbery of Huang Ban's weapons was very strange."
"I suspect the enemy is most likely near the California highways and could very well be the Chaotic Blade Association."
"Because of terrain and water issues, there are just a few small towns along the highway. Gonzalez is too close to Salinas, a biotechnology crop center, and the Chaotic Blade Association wouldn't dare."
Speaking of which, biotechnology has asked Adcardo more than once to farm in Salinas, but Sol and the others never agreed.
"Then there's Golden City, Kolinga, Avinal, these three small towns. We walked and scouted all the way, spending over ten days. If not for Chun Er being durable enough, we might have died outside and relied on resurrection to save time coming back."
The expert drew a circle near the point representing Golden City on the map.
"Right here, we saw traces of the Chaotic Blade Association patrol team. We abandoned our vehicle and walked to the small town side, using binoculars to see many members of Chaotic Blade Association moving around the city, even their flag hanging on the town center church."
"Are you sure it's those guys?"
The giant head remained skeptical.
"What if they're local residents?"
He wasn't being stubborn, just felt it might not be right to falsely accuse them of living in the town illegally.
"Absolutely sure."
The expert was very certain about this.
"I saw two Huang Ban agents inside, and those Chaotic Blade Association members are all combat personnel, not a single civilian in sight."
"They're carrying so many weapons; they can't be here for a picnic."
Chaotic Blade Association is more like bandits than the abbots of Shaolin Temple; they won't lack wives, sons, or mothers, except perhaps more fighters compared to the wandering clans like Adcardo.
"You've got a point, damn."
The giant head crossed his arms and nodded profoundly, asking.
"Then how many of them are there?"
"Around a few thousand, certainly no less than five thousand, plus armored battalions and artillery companies. I even saw glimpses of tanks."
The giant head's voice suddenly escalated.
"How many!???"
"Five thousand? At least? You might as well say they're here to annihilate us."
Potato, who had been silent, commented.
"Five thousand people, do you know what concept that is, brother? We barely have over 400 who can fight, and even if we pull newcomers in as cannon fodder, at most we'd fill to a thousand."
"On average, each has to fight five of the Chaotic Blade Association. Have you thought about that? No, you haven't. You only care about yourself."
Players in Night City fiercely clashed with Huang Ban but that was urban warfare, a completely different concept from confronting an open field head-on.
In the early stages on the plains, Sanders turned the Soviet Union into dogs in wild battles, everyone a genius youth taking on ten was no problem. But at Stalingrad, battling house to house, they barely survived the bloodbath.
That wasn't a sign of the Soviet Army's improvement catching up with the German Army but purely leveraging location and logistics to counter you.
Urban warfare is exchanging lives, and even Liu Tao with the M14 golden egg will be sneakily killed by the old six lurking.
