Chapter 563 180: The Difference Between Bandits and Gangs
The sudden attack-induced chaos gradually expanded under multiple factors, turning the entire camp into a toppled pot of paints, disorderly and chaotic.
Even more terrifying was that this group from the Chaotic Blade Association, right after the upheaval, did not organize a counterattack or defense. Instead, after a brief moment of chaos, they all rushed towards the military supplies warehouse, oil storage, and similar locations.
The most crucial aspect of any military or militarized organization is always discipline.
"What do you think you're doing? Put those things down now!"
The Chaotic Blade Association member guarding the military supplies warehouse was lucky to have avoided the first round of shelling, but they soon discovered that someone was sneaking around in the chaos to steal the warehouse's valuables.
Those on duty quickly called upon their comrades, armed, and threatened the 'thieves.'
"Fuck your mother! I've been sick of you guys for a while now."
Seeing they had been discovered, the thieves simply went all in and pulled out their guns to confront them.
"Normally, you guys eat well and drink well, taking all the good stuff for yourselves. What? You can touch it, but we can't?"
Anywhere, those in charge of logistics and procurement always have the cushy jobs. Even a guard can sip some leftover soup and live comfortably, no wonder others are jealous.
More people taking advantage of the chaos approached, and seeing the situation becoming uncontrollable, the guard officer knew he had to act tough. So, he immediately pulled the trigger, killing the thief on the spot.
His ruthless demeanor successfully intimidated those with ill intentions, their momentum waning. As he was about to order his men to toss the body outside as a warning and think of an escape plan, a gunshot rang out from the crowd, blasting his skull open. He fell backward onto the ground, his eyes full of disbelief.
Then someone else started shouting from among the crowd.
"I've been fed up with this guy too, always living it up while we fight on the front lines for our lives. Brothers, grab what's up for grabs, and whoever gets it, keeps it!"
"The inhibitors they sell are pricier than in the city, and they dilute them with saline. I've had enough of this shit!"
The crowd began to stir.
After all, when it comes to this sort of thing, they were quite the experts. After all, who was better at looting than the Chaotic Blade Association?
Their only means of earning was robbery.
Robbing companies, travelers, other nomadic tribes, then smuggling for Euros.
Although they had deals with companies to collect tolls, those funds were not for the low-ranking members to touch.
The atmosphere between the surrounding people and the warehouse guards became increasingly tense, with many pulling out guns and aiming at the guards, demanding they step aside.
Even though there was still bombing on the outskirts, even though they didn't know if they'd survive, their guns were first aimed at their own people.
Bang!
One guard finally couldn't hold back any longer and opened fire.
Someone in the crowd went down with a bullet, yet more people rushed in, throwing the entire warehouse into a chaotic scramble.
Just an hour ago, the Chaotic Blade Association members were comrades, but now they had turned on each other, causing more casualties than the initial round of bombing.
But the players who snuck in swore they did nothing.
The one who shot and killed the officer wasn't any of them, nor was the one inciting the crowd to storm the warehouse.
They just stood by, bewildered, watching a spectacle unfold.
Inside the warehouse, people shot at each other, tearing at the stockpiles of liquor, inhibitors, and prosthetic components, hauling them to their vehicles one by one.
The same scenes played out at the armory, the oil storage, even the private vehicles of the officers.
Baldy 47 rubbed his bald head, "Wow, these guys really thought they could attack us at night? They feel even worse than the Tiger Claw Gang."
"They're just a bunch of bandits, a different foundational logic than gangs like the Tiger Claw."
A newbie from the Stealth Department pushed up his glasses. Though called a newbie, he seemed to be in his thirties.
"Many join the Tiger Claw Gang, hoping to maintain this large crime organization to protect their lives. Even though they ruin the living environment of others, they are generally a more stable underworld. Their goal is to make money; breaking the law is just a means. They still rely on the existing society to survive."
"But the Chaotic Blade Association is akin to rogue bandits, like the Shandong brigands, the Northeast outlaws, the Hebei raiders, they only plunder existing societal assets, regardless of black or white, without building or producing, pure disruptors of order."
"Those righteous and patriotic bandits you see on TV are fake, fabricated."
"During the Liberation War, under orders from the head, all rebels were conscripted regardless of reason. At one point, there were over a hundred thousand bandits in the Northeast, all eradicated by us."
"Bro, what do you do for a living? You know so much about bandits,"
Shui Yue, who was hiding in the corner watching the show, asked curiously.
"You can't possibly be in this profession, right?"
"Of course not, who in modern society would be a bandit for no reason."
[Red Killing Demon] spoke softly, his voice sounded quite kind.
"My ancestral home is Northeast China, and my grandfather's generation had been plagued by bandits and the local returning groups. He told me stories often when I was a kid, so I know quite a bit."
"Just because of the bandits, over twenty thousand people in our area died, through live burial, guillotines, tongue pulling, stripping them naked and scalding them with hot water then sweeping with brooms. They called it 'sweeping Eight Route Army's hairs,' and there are even more brutal methods like 'proletarian upswing,' 'cutting porcupines'; even the Vortex Gang can't compare to them."
