Passing through the curtain of red codes, as everything went black before his eyes, when [Jing Luo's Wrath] opened his eyes again, the illusory ocean of codes was replaced by a pale gray ceiling.

"Holy shit!"

He panicked and got up, only to find himself lying on a bed, and the surroundings were not his home. The narrow environment looked like a factory dormitory, with a set of cheap clothes placed by the bed. He was not alone; there were three other familiar online friends, [Jing Luo's Delight], [Jing Luo's Tears], and [New Dynasty Elegance], all looking bewildered.

Jing Luo's Wrath touched his face and said incredulously,

"It's real... that game is real! Holy shit! Holy shit!"

The four of them kept muttering 'holy shit,' and when they pushed open the door and walked out of the dormitory, they saw a sky full of yellow sand. The large machinery operating at the foot of the hill emitted thunderous roars, countless NPCs, players, and automated machines bustling around the mountain, removing debris, excavating foundations, hoisting building materials. Seeing this, the four of them knelt on the ground.

"Holy shiiiiiiiiiiit-"

The passing officer snorted at the embarrassing performance of the four newbies kneeling before him.

Completely forgotten was how much more clueless he was when he first entered the game.

"Pretty boys, there will be plenty of opportunities to yell 'holy shit' in the future, so hurry up and get in line for surgery and collect your worker suits; you won't get another chance."

That's when the newbies noticed the person in front had a dazzling golden ID!

The newbies, who had been following the official forums, obviously knew what this meant.

"Holy shit, it's the big boss!"

Their reactions evidently satisfied the officer's need to show off, and he said while stifling laughter,

The four Jing Luo members quickly trotted after him.

Jing Luo's Wrath: "Big boss, you're so awesome, what level are you? How much of your body is modified?"

Unlike before, basic cyber eyes and connectors, those common things, no longer required newbies to spend money. Lin Miao didn't want anyone to notice the anomaly; after all, if there were one or two, it was fine, but hundreds of native people running everywhere would have been suspicious.

The officer patted his arm.

"Just average, only level eighteen, with a modification rate of, oh, 55% or so."

Jing Luo's Delight: "Big boss, didn't I hear a new map had opened? Why didn't you guys go to the new map to explore?"

Officer: "Didn't you hear the planners introduce the new map? It's full of construction tasks over there, with minimal chances of dungeon battles, and the event rewards are the same as here, so it makes no difference whether you go early or late."

The most important thing was they were planning to find a boss to invest in setting up a shop in Night City. Going over there would mean no shop, and there's no teleportation mechanism in this game, so going back and forth would take at least three days.

The four members of Jing Luo suddenly understood.

And as they followed the officer forward, a small robot sped on four wheels to stop beside them, carrying a bunch of small boxes on its back.

Jing Luo's Wrath looked at the robot's lively facial expression screen, and his heart was filled with amazement.

"This is..."

"A multi-functional all-terrain transport platform."

The officer proudly took four boxes from the small robot's back and tossed them to the newbies.

"Open it and connect it to the nerve interface on the back of your neck."

The four players opened the boxes to find something like Bluetooth earphones. They reached behind their necks to discover a hard USB port they'd never noticed before. Apparently, they had not felt any abnormality in their bodies, and the officer had one by his ear too.

They followed suit and plugged in the earphones. A blue light screen flashed before their eyes, and the world changed in an instant.

Countless orderly blue lines lit up in every corner, forming virtual frameworks of roads, foundations, and factories under construction. When players focused on a specific area, an introduction interface popped up, detailing construction order, associated working groups, required materials, total quantities, the specific function of the area, and most importantly, the labor points players could earn once the area was completed.

Looking at the materials piled at the construction site, every bag of cement, every bundle of steel, all had production numbers, strength data, the producing company, the applicant, and where they were to be used next.

Their ears were also filled with the sounds of numerous player and NPC shouts via the earphones.

"Get this debris out as soon as possible, try to lay the subgrade by afternoon."

"Where's the excavator? Construction Group 2 in Zone D3 requests an excavator. There's a big rock here!"

"You bastard, hurry up and get up here and put on your reflective vest! Wear your safety helmet, why the hell did you buckle it over your head? Your helmet strap isn't fastened properly; do you believe I'll report and deduct your wages?"

"Construction Group 3 in Zone C1 requests two more transport platforms for assistance..."

The cacophony made the four feel as if they had entered a construction site, with a fusion of sci-fi and reality stunning them.

"Oh my god..."

In just ten minutes, the game had delivered more shocks than they had experienced in the past ten years combined.

This was also a common feature of cyber-world enterprises, using technological tools to lower industry entry barriers, eliminating the inimitability of professions. When an old employee was kicked out, someone could quickly be brought in to replace their role.
