Chapter 103 – How many husbands do you have?
"Forget it, I won't talk to you about it anymore. I'm just venting," Jiang Yi said, seeing that Chu Shuo was falling for it.
"Which mall are you at? I'll be right there," Chu Shuo said.
Jiang Yi sent him the location, and before long, Chu Shuo arrived.
As Jiang Yi exaggerated the story, he said, "Lu Yudong doesn't like Jiang Ci at all. He uses her for show but is too stingy to give her money. He even wants to return the clothes she bought."
"Which clothes did she return?"
Jiang Yi pointed them out to Chu Shuo one by one.
"Wrap all these clothes up, and I'll add a few more for her..." As he spoke, Chu Shuo pictured Jiang Ci's height in his mind. With his good taste, the clothes he chose for Jiang Ci were exceptionally beautiful.
"Also, please have a store employee deliver them to her home. Here's her address..." Chu Shuo said while typing Jiang Ci's address into his phone, "I'll pay extra. Deliver them by tomorrow afternoon."
"Sir, under whose name should we deliver them?" The store employee asked, noticing Chu Shuo was a big spender, having spent three hundred thousand in one day.
Chu Shuo frowned slightly, "Just say... just say they're from her husband."
Chu Shuo thought, although it wasn't Lu Yudong who sent them, he insisted it was, to humiliate him.
Jiang Yi watched all this unfold, feeling delighted inside.
The next day, while Jiang Ci and Lu Yudong were having dinner at home, there was a knock on the door.
A woman in uniform came in, carrying the brand of clothes Jiang Ci had returned the day before, a lot of them, about a dozen pieces.
Jiang Ci recognized her as the store employee from the return.
"What is it?" Jiang Ci thought there might have been an issue with her return.
"Oh, it's like this. The clothes you returned to our store yesterday, your husband bought them back for you, and he also bought a few more. Would you like to take a look?" the store employee said.
Upon hearing this, Lu Yudong paused for a moment, then continued eating as if nothing had happened.
Jiang Ci looked at Lu Yudong with gentle eyes. Although she didn't like extravagance and felt the clothes were too expensive, it was a gesture from Lu Yudong, and she appreciated it.
"You really didn't have to do this," Jiang Ci said to Lu Yudong. "They're so expensive, and I might not even wear them."
"No need to be polite!" Lu Yudong said expressionlessly, wiping his hands with a napkin and tossing it aside. "Keep them if you like."
With that, he went upstairs.
Grandpa chuckled downstairs, "Yudong is like that, doesn't know how to express himself, and others don't appreciate him."
Jiang Ci felt warm inside. Although she knew this marriage had an expiration date, she suddenly wondered if it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't end. After all, Lu Yudong treated her well.
She even felt a bit jealous of Lu Yudong's future wife.
Upstairs, Lu Yudong was on the phone with his assistant, discussing the acquisition of the Xinxing Mall, the same mall where Jiang Ci had returned the clothes. He wanted an answer by the next morning.
The next day, at work, Jiang Ci received a WeChat message from Chu Shuo: [Did you get the clothes?]
Jiang Ci was puzzled: [What?]
[The clothes I bought for you last night, did you receive them?]
Then, Chu Shuo sent several pictures in succession, showing the clothes Jiang Ci had returned the previous day.
[You bought them? Weren't they from my husband?] Jiang Ci was bewildered. If they weren't from Lu Yudong, why did he act like they were? Given Lu Yudong's status, he had no reason to lie, right? Wouldn't he feel embarrassed if the lie was exposed?
Although Jiang Ci was confused, she had her own judgment: the clothes were likely from Chu Shuo.
She pondered for a long time about how to ask Lu Yudong, as she couldn't mention "Chu Shuo" in her words. If Lu Yudong found out the clothes were from Chu Shuo, wouldn't she be in trouble?
After work, Jiang Ci got into Lu Yudong's car.
"Honey, the clothes I returned were bought back for me. I really like them! Thank you," Jiang Ci said.
"As long as you like them." Lu Yudong knew who had bought the clothes, and since Jiang Ci started calling him "honey" again, it meant she was up to something. This indicated she knew who bought the clothes, and perhaps that person had told her.
"At first, I thought they weren't from you," Jiang Ci pretended to probe.
Lu Yudong glanced at Jiang Ci, "So, how many husbands do you have? Or do you just not think that highly of me?"
"No, no, I absolutely didn't mean that," Jiang Ci hurriedly explained.
When they got home, another person resembling a store employee was waiting, saying they were there to deliver cosmetics and jewelry to Jiang Ci.
Jiang Ci looked at Lu Yudong in confusion. Why were people from this mall constantly delivering things to her recently? It didn't seem like they were from Chu Shuo.
"Just accept them," Lu Yudong said to Jiang Ci.
The cosmetics were quite expensive, and although Jiang Ci didn't know much about jewelry, it probably wasn't cheap either.
After the store employee left, Jiang Ci asked Lu Yudong, "Why is this mall always sending me things lately?"
"Oh, I'm planning to acquire this mall. Here's the acquisition plan," Lu Yudong placed the acquisition plan in front of Jiang Ci. "They probably want to curry favor with you to get a higher price from me."
Jiang Ci was taken aback. So, was it Chu Shuo who was lying?
