Virtual Ascension: Awakening the Supreme Talent

Chapter 101 – Land of Slaughter

Swish, swish, swish, swish!

In the Apocalypse world, countless Safe Zones scattered across various regions suddenly emitted a towering white light, marking the teleportation array to the Energy City dungeon.

The system announcement had just been released, and a mandatory dungeon introduction and rules popped up in front of all players. Players had to read through the introduction and click confirm before they could enter the dungeon.

[Energy City]:

Dungeon Level: 30

Entry Requirements: Level 20, first entry costs 3 Gold Coins

Dungeon Introduction/Human Perspective: As aliens invaded Earth, human Main Cities and Safe Zones were repeatedly attacked by alien armies. Energy City is the site of a major battle between human legions and alien armies three years ago. The battle, which lasted for half a month, ended with the aliens repelling the humans and occupying Energy City. However, Energy City still holds countless resources left by humans, which the aliens have seized and consumed.

Dungeon Rules:

Adjacent regions are grouped as a unit and assigned to the same Energy City dungeon by the system.

Each time players enter the dungeon, their location is randomly refreshed. By killing alien monsters between levels 20-30 in the dungeon, players can obtain corresponding [Energy]. Players can also gain 10% of the energy from opposing region players by killing them. After the dungeon ends, regional rewards are calculated based on the total accumulated energy of all players in the same region.

Additionally, the top 100 players in personal energy rankings receive extra rewards. The energy collected in the dungeon can be exchanged for various rewards in the energy shop that opens after the dungeon ends.

Note: In the Energy City dungeon, players receive system protection (players will not have a Red Name, items will not drop upon death, and Revival Chances are not consumed, only losing 10% of current level EXP. Players will respawn in the Safe Zone upon death and can re-enter the dungeon after a 1-hour cooldown, or revive on the spot by spending a certain amount of money). In the Energy City dungeon, the rate of Fatigue decrease is slowed by 50%.

Special Note: Each Energy City dungeon hides an ultimate treasure. Players who find the ultimate treasure will receive substantial rewards but will also release a treasure wraith.

Time remaining until dungeon ends: 2 days, 11 hours, 59 minutes

...

Countless players pressed confirm, eagerly spending 3 Gold Coins to enter the dungeon through the teleportation array.

At this moment, players who usually wouldn't splurge on an extra egg for their fried rice didn't hesitate to spend 3 Gold Coins on the entry fee, knowing that the rewards from the Energy City dungeon would far exceed the cost of those 3 Gold Coins.

Energy City.

A bustling city, well-preserved after alien modifications, with countless skyscrapers standing tall. Strange-looking alien creatures wandered aimlessly through the streets and alleys of the city, seemingly waiting for something.

The next moment, countless beams of white light descended on Energy City, and players from Zone 885 and Zone 886 were randomly assigned spawn points by the system.

Some players refreshed inside buildings, others in basements, and some directly on streets without wandering alien monsters. The unluckiest were those who refreshed on the rooftop of a 20-story building, expressing their feelings with a simple "Damn!"

The first thing players did upon entering the dungeon was to find monsters to start farming.

In a certain stairwell, a flash of white light appeared, and the level 23 Archer, Storm Angel, refreshed.

"Ding~ Welcome to the [Energy City] dungeon, you have received an initial energy of 100 points!"

Storm Angel immediately dashed out of the stairwell, arriving on a street filled with level 20-something alien creatures, targeting a level 25 alien and drawing his bow to attack.

Energy City has a user-friendly setting where monsters follow a beginner mode: as long as players don't provoke them, they won't actively attack players.

So when Storm Angel shot a [Fire Arrow], only the level 25 [Deformed Alien] with four arms that he hit charged at him, while the surrounding aliens ignored him.

The Deformed Alien, a melee type with high attack but low defense, was shot down by Storm Angel with a few high-damage arrows before it could get close!

"Ding~ You killed a level 25 [Deformed Alien], gained 220 EXP, and 5 Energy Points!"

Looking at the level 22 three-star [Golden Bow of the Dead] in his hand, which he bought for 251 Gold Coins and further enhanced to level 25 with over a hundred level 3 Enhancement Stones, Storm Angel smiled confidently, "Alright, this dungeon, I'm counting on you!"

Just as Storm Angel was about to hunt his next target, a system notification suddenly sounded in his ear—

Regional Battle Announcement: "Ding~ Zone 885 player [Proud of the Crowd] killed Zone 886 player [Lonely], seizing 10 Energy Points from the opponent! Earned the [First Blood] dungeon achievement reward: 50 Energy Points!"

"Damn!" On another street in Energy City, the level 21 Archer King's Glory, who had just entered the dungeon and hadn't started killing monsters yet, couldn't help but curse upon hearing this message, "They've already started killing? Proud of the Crowd, damn it!"

Just then, another notification sounded—

"Ding~ Zone 886 player [Storm Angel] killed Zone 885 player [Bloodthirsty] and seized 11 Energy Points from the opponent!"

Balancing the score for Zone 886, even though he didn't have a good impression of Storm Crap, King's Glory couldn't help but type in the regional channel, "Well done!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he felt a chill behind him. Just as King's Glory turned around, a figure suddenly ambushed him.

Seconds later, white light flashed.

Battle Announcement: "Ding~ Zone 885 player [Mad God] killed Zone 886 player [King's Glory], gaining 10 Energy Points!"

With a shift in perspective, King's Glory, who didn't choose to revive with Gold Coins, appeared at the Revival Spring in Hope Town.

"Damn it!"

King's Glory opened the dual-zone channel and edited a message.

[King's Glory] (Zone 886, Male, Level 21 Archer): "Those sneaky Proud players ambushed me, brothers of King's World, avenge me!"

[Mad God] (Zone 885, Male, Level 24 Assassin): "Didn't you say King's World is the top team in Zone 886? Is this all you've got? Can't even last 5 seconds against me?"

[King's Glory]: "Damn it, you're just relying on being 3 levels higher than me. Could you beat me if we were the same level?"

[Divine Archer] (Zone 885, Male, Level 23 Archer): "Trash is trash, stop whining. If you've got the guts, come back and fight!"

[King's Glory]: "Just you wait, I'll be back in an hour, and I'll be a hero again!"

Fuming, King's Glory closed the chat channel.

The battle continued, and Energy City, known as the "Land of Slaughter" by players in later generations, was filled with flashes of white light, one after another.

Countless battle announcements scrolled continuously across the dungeon interface.
