Chapter 297: Outskirts of Ebonfall, Nightfall
Samuel's POV
Two hours had passed since Nelo Angelo's final breath echoed across the throne bridge. The air still stank of burnt steel and blood, but I needed rest.
My mana was half gone. My muscles still throbbed from that last clash. Even my Abyss Gauntlets hummed with residual heat, whispering for silence.
The dark forests surrounding Ebonfall were dead quiet—no crows, no wind. Just me... and the whisper of distant ruins ahead.
A broken tower. Abandoned. Moss crawling up its bones. Cracked stone steps led inside. Shelter. Not a home, but it would do.
I leaned against the cold wall, the cloak sliding off my shoulders as I exhaled.
And then... her face surfaced.
Bitch Bardot.
That twisted smile.
Those lying eyes.
Her voice—fake as glass. "I love you, Samuel... you're my world."
