The doors closed.

With that haunting finality, Owen vanished from my sight again—just like he had years ago.

Only this time... it hurt in ways I didn't expect.

I stood frozen, heels locked on the cool marble floor, the scent of his presence still lingering like smoke after a wildfire. My hand tightened around the edge of the desk until my nails dug into the lacquer.

Alpha and Omega.

That's what he said.

He really became something else. Something... untouchable.

But why—why—did it still ache when he looked at me like that? Like I was just some relic from a past he outgrew?
