The Demon Queen's Royal Consort

Chapter 100 - Dungeon - VIII

A black lightning bolt grazed my right arm, tearing through the tattered remains of my clothing. My skin burned instantly, and hot blood began trickling down my forearm, leaving a sticky trail. But honestly? At that moment, I didn't even feel the pain.

My attention was entirely focused on the hell unfolding around me.

I was literally caught in the crossfire between two abominations that defied all logic. The mutated centipede fought with everything it had, its chitinous legs striking with enough force to make the ground tremble like an earthquake. Each attack sent shockwaves rippling through the dome, cracking the mercury walls and sending razor-sharp shrapnel flying in all directions.

As for the grasshopper...

The grasshopper was something else entirely.

It moved with supernatural precision, almost as if it were mocking the centipede. Five of its six bladed arms were focused solely on skewering me, while the sixth effortlessly parried the centipede's attacks. The difference in power was so absurd that, in one strike, it severed two of the centipede's legs like they were dry twigs.

My energy pathways burned as if doused in acid. Never in my life had I channeled this much electricity at once. My entire body glowed like a living Faraday cage, lightning dancing between my fingers, arcing from my eyes, even escaping the corners of my mouth. Every muscle was strained to the limit, every nerve sharp as a blade.

And yet...

It still wasn't enough.

A small opening appeared when the centipede finally landed a decent hit on the grasshopper. My eyes flashed, and two lightning bolts as thick as human arms shot toward the monster's opaque green carapace...

And bounced off without leaving so much as a scratch.
