Chapter 87: Where Are Your Experimental Soldier?
The HUD highlighted the weapons in their hands, along with detailed specs. He opened the honeycomb missile bays on his shoulders, locking onto multiple targets in seconds. The HUD lit up with dozens of red markers: the soldiers with stingers, anti-aircraft guns, and other threats.
"Let's see who fires first," Zack quipped, his voice laced with confidence.
With a single thought, the missile bays sprang to life, unleashing 81 micro-missiles. The projectiles swarmed out in a chaotic yet controlled barrage, each one programmed with its own target. The sky lit up as the missiles streaked toward their marks, trailing smoke.
The base was engulfed in explosions as fireballs consumed anti-aircraft guns, stinger teams, and critical equipment. Buildings crumbled as the ground shook under the onslaught. Within moments, the base's conventional military forces were obliterated. As the dust settled, Zack landed with a heavy thud in front of their headquarters. He immediately raised his hands, palms glowing with the energy of his pulse cannons.
"Kill him! Take him down!" the soldiers yelled, firing wildly. Bullets pinged harmlessly off the Ultralium alloy armor, the impacts sounding like rain on metal. Zack didn't even flinch. The Apex's armor was far beyond what conventional weapons could penetrate. Not a scratch, not even a scuff marred its surface.
Unfazed, Zack walked calmly forward, firing pulse blasts with precision. Each shot pierced through soldiers and the barricades they hid behind. The particle beams tore through flesh and concrete alike, leaving no cover safe. "Is this the best you've got?" Zack mocked, his voice dripping with disdain. "Where are your exprimental soldiers?"
He stopped in front of a reinforced concrete wall protecting the base. Without hesitation, he raised his arm, and an anti-armor missile deployed from his shoulder. It shot out like an arrow, slamming into the wall with a deafening boom. The explosion sent a controlled cone of flame and debris shooting forward, obliterating the wall and incinerating the soldiers hiding behind it.
Inside the building, a sniper peered through his scope, an anti-materiel rifle aimed directly at Zack. "Got you..." the sniper whispered as he steadied his aim.
Before he could pull the trigger, a particle beam from Zack's palm cannon seared through the air, melting the sniper's head in an instant. "Sniping me? Cute," Zack muttered coldly. His armor's biological scanner had detected the sniper through the walls long before he could take the shot. Nothing within 200 meters escaped the HUD's surveillance.
