Chapter 10: Not A Push Over
I was munching on one of the cookies and scrolling through something on my phone when I felt a shadow fall over me. I knew, even before I looked up, who it was going to be. ’Great, here we go,’ I thought. It was Ronnie.
He didn’t say anything. He just stood there for a second, and then, out of nowhere, he smacked my phone out of my hand. It clattered to the floor.
That was it. I was quiet, and I liked being alone, but I wasn’t a pushover. Nobody just knocked my stuff around like that. I snapped.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" I said, probably louder than I intended. My voice was shaky, partly from anger, partly because yelling hurt my ribs. The whole class went quiet, and everyone turned to look at us. Perfect. Just what I wanted, more attention.

"My deal with Nina?" I repeated, trying to keep my cool even though I was pissed. "What are you talking about?"
"Don’t play dumb," he said. "Why is she always helping you out?"
’Seriously? This is what he’s upset about?’ I thought. "That’s none of your damn business," I told him. My heart was pounding. I hadn’t been in a confrontation like this since, well, ever.
"It is my business if you’re bothering her," he shot back.
