Augustus tilted his head sideways. "What do you guys think? Is she good for our company?" he asked, looking at them with a steady gaze.
Max simply nodded with confusion, while David contemplated, stroking his chin. "Yes, purely speaking about skills and personality, I would surely hire her..." he answered concisely.
Augustus narrowed his eyes, expecting a "But?"
"But what if she really did leak confidential data? We can’t rule that out. Also..." he leaned closer,
"we can’t even confirm it since we don’t have enough connections," he whispered.
Augustus nodded thoughtfully. Should I ask Alexandra? She might have connections. Hmm... he thought in consideration.
Seeing how they were not outright rejecting her, hope flickered behind her eyes.
"I-I don’t expect you to believe me," she said, pulling Augustus out of his thoughts. "That’s your call. I just want to prove myself again."
Augustus furrowed and sighed with a realization.
Well, since life gave me a chance with this system, I think she deserves one chance too... Everyone deserves one, he decided with a faint smile.
Glancing back, "Alright. I won’t decide based on rumors... but I won’t decide blindly either. We’ll contact your references and past colleagues. If you’re telling the truth, we’ll hire you as design head. Same position, same salary. Is that fair?" he asserted with a focused gaze.
