Naruto: Reborn as Uchiha Obito

Chapter 240 237: Dimensional Slash: Equinox

The moment Obito's Perfect Susanoo fully emerged, the entire snowy dimension seemed to groan beneath its pressure.

Massive wings unfurled behind it.

Layer upon layer of dark, oppressive armor covered its gigantic frame, while its tengu-like face looked down over the battlefield with pure, merciless indifference.

The sheer amount of chakra pouring off it was enough to distort the air itself.

Even the snow below was blown away in spiraling waves.

Obito stood within the crystal at the center of the Perfect Susanoo, one hand resting lightly near the hilt of the chakra-forged blade at its waist.

His visible eye remained cold.

"You wanted to see power used properly, didn't you?" Obito said flatly. "Then keep your eyes open."

But he still wasn't done.

He clenched his fist, and black markings spread across his body as the chakra he had been storing within a seal—similar in concept to Tsunade's Strength of a Hundred Seal—erupted all at once together with his Sage Mode chakra.

But his technique was different.

Unlike Tsunade's, what Obito had stored was pure natural energy.

Boom.

The black markings spread even across the Susanoo itself, and his power began rising higher with every passing second.

From across the battlefield, Momoshiki narrowed his eyes.

He recognized that irritating power instantly.

It was the same kind of energy that Uchiha Sasuke had used before—the one he had hated to the core.

And now, seeing it appear again right in front of him, the urge to smash it to pieces only grew stronger.

Boom!!

The earth golem moved first.

Its gigantic fist swung upward like a mountain being hurled into the sky.

Obito's Perfect Susanoo met it head-on.

Bang!!!

The two titanic fists collided, and the impact exploded across the frozen world like a natural disaster.

The snowfield for hundreds of meters around them was blasted into the air.

Cracks spiderwebbed across the ground.

Entire walls of ice in the distance shattered at once, bursting into white and blue fragments that rained down like broken glass.

Obito's eyes flickered.

The power behind that punch...

It was ridiculous.

Then Obito's Susanoo twisted its arm and forced the golem's fist to the side.

The giant earth construct actually staggered half a step.

Momoshiki's expression shifted slightly.

Obito didn't miss it.

"So you can make big toys too," he said coldly. "Doesn't mean you know how to use them."

The Perfect Susanoo drew its sword.

A colossal blade of chakra slid free with a shriek that seemed to split the sky itself.

Momoshiki's eyes sharpened instantly.

Then, in the very next moment

Slash!!

Obito swung with a wicked grin behind his mask. He had always wanted to try this, and now...

"Dimension Slash: Equinox!"

A gigantic crescent of chakra infused with dimensional cutting power tore across the battlefield, slicing through the blizzard-like haze and crashing toward the earth golem with enough force to cleave a mountain range in half.

Momoshiki thrust both hands forward.

The earth golem crossed its arms in defense.

Boom!!!

The dimensional slash hit.

Then one of its arms split apart from elbow to shoulder, exploding into countless fragments of rock and frozen debris.

The rest of the slash tore straight through its chest and kept going, ripping a canyon across the snowy ground behind it.

Momoshiki's body skidded backward across the golem's shoulder, his hair whipping violently in the shockwave.

The amusement finally vanished from his expression.

That attack would have obliterated most chakra-based lifeforms on contact.

If it had only been a normal Susanoo strike, it wouldn't have caused this much damage.

But this bastard...

He's fusing that strange technique of his, the one that cuts through space—into every attack.

Momoshiki's expression darkened.

No matter how strong his golem was, it still couldn't defend against something like that.

Obito didn't let up for even a second.

The Perfect Susanoo stepped forward.

It swung again.

And again.

And again.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Vast arcs of black sword-light screamed across the battlefield one after another, each dimensional slash carrying catastrophic force.

Momoshiki's earth golem let out a soundless roar as it raised its remaining arm, chunks of stone surging up from the ground to repair its shattered body.

The first slash carved away half its shoulder.

The third cleaved through its torso and sent its upper body tilting to the side.

Then Momoshiki jumped.

He abandoned the golem just before the fourth slash split it clean in half.

Crack—BOOM!!!

The giant earth construct collapsed in pieces, crashing into the snowy wasteland like a fallen mountain.

Momoshiki shot into the sky, his blond hair whipping wildly as blue chakra gathered around one arm again.

He raised his hand.

A black rod formed instantly.

Then another.

Then dozens more.

Obito's eyes narrowed.

In the next instant, Momoshiki flicked his wrist.

The rods rained down like divine judgment.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

They came so fast that even the air screamed.

Obito's Perfect Susanoo moved its wings forward.

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang—!!!

The black rods slammed into the chakra armor and sparked violently on impact.

Some embedded halfway into the outer plates.

Others bounced away and tore through the mountains behind like missiles.

One grazed the side of a wing and blasted a massive hole through the ice in the distance.

Obito frowned slightly inside the crystal chamber.

Those things...

They weren't ordinary chakra constructs.

He could feel the disturbance they caused in the Susanoo's chakra flow the instant they made contact.

Momoshiki noticed the reaction at once and smiled.

"Did you really think breaking my toy would be enough to deal with me?"

Obito answered by raising the Susanoo's free hand.

Kamui twisted through the air.

The space directly behind Momoshiki folded in on itself.

Momoshiki vanished instantly.

The warped vortex tore through empty space and swallowed nothing but drifting snow.

He's too fast...

And then—

Bang!!!

Obito's Perfect Susanoo snapped its head to the side just as Momoshiki crashed into the side of its face with a monstrous kick wrapped in blue chakra.

The impact boomed like thunder.

The gigantic avatar slid several meters through the snow, carving a deep trench behind it.

Inside the Susanoo, Obito didn't look bothered.

Instead, he let Momoshiki keep pressing the attack.

He wanted to lower Momoshiki's guard.

Momoshiki had no intention of stopping. With a savage grin, he blurred forward again.

"Did you really think size matters that much?"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

He became a streak of pale light and violent blue chakra, striking the Perfect Susanoo from every angle at absurd speed.

Cracks began spreading across parts of the Susanoo's outer armor.

Obito's expression finally shifted slightly.

He had to admit it—

This bastard...

His raw physical strength had risen even further.

Then Momoshiki appeared directly in front of the Susanoo's face.

His right hand drew back.

A massive Rasengan began to form once more—larger, denser, far more violent than before.

Even from inside the crystal chamber, Obito could feel it.

The sheer compression of chakra inside that sphere was insane.

Momoshiki's grin widened, savage and unrestrained.

"Let's see if that giant shell of yours can phase through this too."

He slammed it forward.

Obito's eyes curved slightly—just enough for a faint smile to appear.

A detail Momoshiki never noticed.

Boom!!!!!

The enormous Rasengan crashed into the Susanoo.

For one impossible second, the battlefield froze in a blinding white light.

Then—

Everything exploded.

A wave of pure destruction tore outward in every direction.

Crack—

The sound was swallowed instantly by the blast that followed.

Boom!!!

Obito's Perfect Susanoo shattered into countless fragments of chakra, scattering like burning embers across the snow.

--

Momoshiki hovered in the air, a manic grin stretching across his face as he looked down.

Below him, Obito knelt on the ground in a battered state.

"Hahaha… As expected," Momoshiki laughed. "You couldn't turn intangible in that giant form, isn't that right, inferior creature?"

"Huff… huff…"

Obito was on one knee, breathing heavily.

The side of his mask was broken.

One arm hung loosely at his side.

Momoshiki slowly descended, his expression returning to cold arrogance as he landed directly in front of him.

"Your arrogance was amusing while it lasted," he said calmly. "But this is where it ends."

"An inferior creature will always kneel before a god… exactly where your kind belongs."

Then he slowly raised one hand.

Blue chakra began to whirl above his palm.

A Rasengan formed instantly—

but instead of simply holding it there, Momoshiki's fingers shifted, and his expression turned even colder. The compressed sphere of chakra sharpened in rotation, its surface trembling with violent, piercing force.

"Die."

He flicked his arm forward.

The Rasendan shot from his hand like a compressed bullet of spiraling chakra, shrieking through the air straight toward Obito's head.

"…Damn it."

In Obito's widened eyes, the Rasendan pierced straight through his head, and his body dropped lifelessly onto the snow.

Momoshiki glanced coldly at Obito's corpse.

"This is why I hate you people," he said, his voice calmer now. "Weak, insignificant creatures... and yet every now and then, one of you insists on becoming irritating."

Then his attention shifted to something else.

He wanted to search Obito's memories and find out how this human from the past knew of him in the future.

Just as his hand touched the body beneath him—

"Skrrk!"

A sharp, penetrating sound echoed across the now-silent snowy land.

"And every now and then... one of you parasites forgets it can still be killed."

At some point, Obito had already appeared behind him.

His hand was buried deep in Momoshiki's back, piercing all the way through his chest.

But the creepiest part was that there was no blood.

It looked as though Obito's hand had passed right through him—

and yet—

"Arghhh!!!"

For the first time, Momoshiki's expression twisted horrendously as he screamed in pain and agony.

Obito slowly twisted his hand inside him, like a knife turning in flesh.

"Ahhh... how can... how can this be...?"

Momoshiki's pale eyes turned bloodshot as he looked down.

The body he had thought was Obito was now nothing more than scattered wood fragments on the ground.

It had been a Wood Clone.

Obito had used it the moment the Rasengan struck his Susanoo. He had taken advantage of that clash as cover and shifted his real body away with Kamui.

He had deliberately chosen not to use Kamui on the Susanoo itself, all to make Momoshiki believe he could not become intangible while using it.

Everything from the very beginning had been to guide Momoshiki toward this outcome.

Was he fighting dirty?

Of course he was.

He was Obito Uchiha.

Since when had he ever fought fair?

"An... inferior creature... how could you attack my soul? How could you possibly possess that kind of power...?"

What truly shattered Momoshiki was not the wound itself, but the fact that this so-called inferior creature had struck him directly in the soul.

If it had been an ordinary injury, he could have used the remaining data in his Kāma to restore himself, even if it were fatal. Not to mention that, even though he had been deceived, his reaction speed in those final moments had still kept up enough for him to avoid a direct hit to the heart.

But this...

This human...

This lowly creature...

Who would have thought he possessed a power that could wound the soul itself?

Obito smiled faintly as he listened to Momoshiki's roars of fury and anguish.

Even he had been a little surprised.

His attack had been aimed at Momoshiki's heart, but this bastard had still managed to avoid the fatal point.

But it did not matter.

Momoshiki had simply been unlucky enough to face him—someone whose abilities were built to fight monsters far above his level.

Space-cutting attacks. Damage transfer through an immortal body. Soul damage that ignored durability. Intangibility. Teleportation.

And more.

"Answer me... kh—!"

Momoshiki still roared madly, his face twisted by the agony of his soul being pierced.

"Because unlike you, I didn't spend my life rotting in arrogance."

Obito looked at him without the slightest pity.

"You kept calling me inferior... but in the end, it was that same inferior creature who drove his hand straight through your soul."

"Now take those unanswered questions with you into nothingness."

He paused, his Sharingan fixed on Momoshiki's distorted face.

"Though... I suppose that's pointless. You won't even have a grave to lie in."

Obito's faint smile deepened.

"No place to rest, either."

"How unfortunate."

Momoshiki's face twisted violently, half in fury, half in disbelief.

"You... inferior—"

Before he could finish, the space around him began to distort.

Darkness folded inward like a bottomless maw, swallowing light, sound, even the air itself.

Momoshiki's eyes widened.

For the first time, genuine panic flashed across his face.

"No— wait—!"

"Go scream in there, parasite."

Obito's voice was cold.

"Devouring Coffin."

The warped darkness surged forward instantly.

Momoshiki's body was dragged into it bit by bit, as if an invisible abyss had opened its jaws and begun devouring him whole.

His hands clawed at empty air.

"Y-You think... this is enough to—"

His words were cut off abruptly as the darkness swallowed his head whole.

In the next instant, everything vanished.

The distorted void collapsed into a single point, then disappeared back into Obito's body, leaving behind nothing but silence and a battlefield torn to ruin.

Obito stood there quietly, his body even more exhausted than before.

He had just gone through two brutal fights back-to-back—first Sasuke, then Momoshiki.

His eyes remained fixed on the empty space where Momoshiki had been.

Then he let out a slow breath.

"At least now," he muttered coldly, "you can shut up properly."

A moment later, his gaze shifted downward.

To the snow below.

No...

more precisely, to the turtle that had somehow slipped out of Boruto's pocket.

Karasuki.

The time-traveling turtle.

In the snow, their eyes met.

And for a moment, neither of them moved at all.

Obito was tense.

Not because he was afraid of Karasuki itself but because he was worried that the damned turtle might run.

Karasuki was one of his biggest targets.

Even more important than Momoshiki—no, Borushiki—whom he had just devoured.
