Chapter 173: It Seems We Are Early
[Midnight.]
[Blood Cave.]
Philip stood at the tower, his gaze fixed on the still-glowing cavern entrance.
"Vice Commander! Why don’t you rest? We’ll take watch," Vicod offered, his voice laced with concern.
Philip shook his head, his eyes never leaving the ominous cave. "Three months ago, a powerful beast, the first Sky Stage beast, created that cave with its life force. With its help, countless monsters poured forth. Back then, we were so occupied with the other borders that we didn’t pay attention to this one because of the mountains. By the time we discovered it, it was too late; the monsters were already in the city." He exhaled slowly.
"If it hadn’t been for the legendary Silver Sword, single-handedly fighting all those monsters from the city to this place, Cordelia would have fallen that day. She killed countless beasts, ending the war after slaying the Sky Stage beast, with Divine Stage beasts! Can you believe that?!" He turned to Vicod, who simply shook his head, equally astounded by the tale.
"I know I can’t be like her, not in this lifetime, but at least, I can serve my country! I will fight till my last breath!" Philip declared, his voice filled with unwavering resolve.
Vicod stared at Philip’s back for a few seconds, completely at a loss for words.
BOOM!
"...?!"
Everyone was stunned as smoke shot out from the cave, and the ground trembled violently.
