Chapter 103: Take Down The Bounty
The color drained from every face in the room upon hearing her words.
The Five Beast Kings! Their reputation was legendary, their names whispered in fear throughout the underworld. These five individuals held the top six positions on the most-deadly international ranking board, with an enigmatic figure occupying the coveted number one spot.
’Christopher must have an extraordinary background, but we can’t disclose the names of our clients... But can we face the wrath of the Five Kings?!’ Joker’s fists clenched beneath the table. He spoke, his voice strained. "You know we can’t do that. We will take down the bounty, but we cannot reveal the information to you."
"Oh..." Phoenix’s voice took on a chillingly dangerous tone. "What if he is the one holding the top spot on the international ranking board?" she inquired.
"...WHAT?!!!"
Joker shot to his feet, his mask unable to conceal the shock that contorted his unseen features. "You! What are you saying?!" he bellowed into the phone, while the ten assassins around the table exchanged bewildered glances.
"You heard me. Now give me a name, or your Skull won’t see the next day!"
Joker was speechless. He looked at his members, seeing their frantic nods of agreement. With a defeated sigh, he finally conceded. "Okay... The one who placed the bounty is Dracula."
Silence hung in the air for a fleeting moment before the call disconnected abruptly, without a word of acknowledgment.
"Boss, how powerful is this number one in the ranking?" one of the assassins ventured to ask, his voice barely above a whisper.
Joker slumped back into his chair, the weight of the revelation pressing down on him. "The number one on the international ranking board is strong enough to wipe out a whole city. They are clearly unstoppable..." he said, his voice heavy with dread.
