Chapter 301: The scent
"I think we should leave now, Your Majesty," Alice said being careful not to address him by his name. While Kyrell was busy with Lyra’s mates, it was easy for her to slip in and say things that might cause misunderstanding but when Kyrell was alert, it was second to impossible to fool him.
He had been oddly wary of her since she stepped inside the eagle tribe. It was not like this in the past. When Kyrell was still an outcast amongst the Eagle royalty, it had been less of a problem insulting him or tormenting him. But now, he was the king, a figure that she could not cross without consequences. Hence, it was better for her to keep her mouth in check while he was more present in the situation and act behind the scenes.
Kyrell was still lost in his thoughts as he was ushered back to his tribe. His mind was all over the place the entire time he was walking. He wanted to shift into his beast form and fly to his love but stopped after remembering her mates. They would never allow him to meet her, especially Victor. He also didn’t know about Lyra’s stand in all this matter. Was she really not aware of all this? About her mates treating him like he had done some sin? They looked so confident admonishing him, did that somehow come from Lyra? Kyrell didn’t want to think the worse but the current situation was making it hard for him to do otherwise.
As time passed, his patience only dwindled further. He wanted to be as understanding as possible so that he could meet her. That was the only thing he wanted now. To meet her. With that, he could explain himself to the one that really mattered. He was over trying to get validation from those imbecile mates of hers. If they didn’t like him then so be it, he also didn’t like them anyway. The one reason he even tried to get along with them was because of Lyra. But now that they were trying to separate him from that one reason, they were nothing more than his rivals.....worst, enemies.
When they reached the Eagle tribe, Alice tactfully left Kyrell’s side and returned to talk to her father about her future moves. Meanwhile, Kyrell dismissed the guards before settling on his bed. He lay flat on his back and closed his eyes covering it with his forearm. The injuries he had received had not yet fully recovered and the aftermath of it was catching up to him. He was feeling delirious and his body ached making him succumb to his sleep.

Lyra woke up feeling tired. Her head was spinning and nausea hit so hard that it almost made her retch.
"Lilly!" As soon as she propped herself up, she heard Blake’s voice. She opened her watery eyes that was probably caused due to her uncomfortableness. Then she felt all of her mates surrounding her and frowned. The musky smell that she liked of her mates felt repulsive all of a sudden which made her push them back. Well, she attempted to push them but it only made them more worried about her.
"Are you alright, baby dove?" Noah asked as he took in his mate’s displeasure. He didn’t want to think like this but it seemed like she was getting irritated for some reason.
That was true because when Lyra felt her actions not working, she instead used her words, "Don’t come near me, I don’t feel good"
