Chapter 296: Deciding
Victor worked nonstop arranging places for guests that were staying in the Snake tribe. The latter had come here to take part in the banquet but now, the situation was completely different. The demise of King Leonard was the least anyone would have expected to happen on this day but well, when does life ever go as planned? We could plan our day from start to finish but what occurs in between is always left to fate.
He realized all of this and although sad, he was alright with it until he learned about the one that caused this mess. When he saw his mate break down, it was like he was poured with cold water on a snowy day. It was a harsh wake-up call for ignoring Kyrell and those Eagle bastards until now. He ought to have done something when there was first sign of disrespect from those vile beings.
And now, the ringmaster of all this impairment was here? "That bastard....!" He gnashed his teeth swearing at Kyrell.
Lucas also had the same expression on his face. His rage knew no bounds. However, the sane part of his mind was still working quite a bit. Or else how would he be able to think of coming to Victor as soon as he heard the news of Kyrell’s arrival? If he had been sane enough, he would have gone to Blake as the latter was the calmest one after Noah. Demir too was fine but Victor was another case altogether. The Vulture beastman would act first and then think and that was someone Lucas wanted right now. He didn’t want to be calm and rational because the loss they had gone through was far too great for them to compromise. Lucas didn’t know why Kyrell was here but he would make sure the latter suffered just as much as they did. Maybe not by his hand but by someone else.
And as soon as that thought came to his mind, his eyes drifted towards the rootless beastman who was currently looking somber leaning against a tree. Kaizer looked sad and Lucas knew that it was because Ly was sad. The black wolf had no relationship with his late uncle but was still morning due to his Ly. This love of his is what Lucas decided to use to finish off Kyrell. That backstabbing bastard.
As Lucas had guessed, Kaizer was indeed feeling sad. He felt sorry for his beloved. She looked so broken and that devastated him. How her lovely face turned grim and her eyes lost sparkle was etched inside his mind. He had recently heard about the happenings between his bunny and the Eagle King. Although he felt rage towards that Kyrell guy, his other side deemed all of these situations very suspicious.
First of all, a male forfeiting the one he fancies for another female sounded bizarre, to say the least. A male beastman couldn’t do that both mentally and physically. Kaizer had seen his father suffer in agony every moment he was away from his mother. It had not been an easy journey for his father. The latter was a rootless beastman just like him and this led to strong opposition from his mother’s side of the family. They vehemently opposed his father and mother’s union even though she liked him so much that she never took another male to be her mate. Even after her parents mated and had him, his mother’s family created many incidents to portray his father as loathsome, vindictive, and hateful as they believed a rootless would be. Nonetheless, this did nothing to deter his mother’s determination toward his father.
The two of them overcame several adversaries and loved each other to the end of their lives. Maybe this was why Kazier wasn’t that unfamiliar with love in particular. Although he wasn’t able to feel emotions, he could clearly see the wonderful trust and love between his parents. Their influence on his life had been greater than he had thought and he realized this only after meeting his bunny.
The past situation that his parents were in felt kind of similar to what he was seeing between Lyra and Kyrell right now. It was the same pattern. From what Kaizer had heard, his bunny and the eagle king had not yet met after that incident in the fox tribe. While she was in the forest, the eagle king was beaten and had no chance to meet her even after she returned. Then when she did go to the eagle tribe, she was humiliated by King Kyrell’s supposed mate. Again, she didn’t meet the former. Where was the Eagle kind when all of this was taking place? Did he make his recovery and purposefully didn’t appear to hurt Lyra? Or was he never informed about her visit? Then what about the King’s new mate? Questions like these constantly surged in his mind and as for answers? There was none.
