Chapter 270: The plans
Gregory felt like he had heard something wrong. A frown marred his face as he asked again just to make sure, "They ate those beastmen?"
"Yes, Lord" and the answer he received was filled with conviction which in turn vanished his suspicion. He felt stupid for even doubting this. Those snake beastmen were feral in nature. Cold-blooded and vicious to the level where the city had to separate itself from them. All around the beast world, tribes and cities likewise kept their distance from ferals. Snakes and Scorpions were one of the many that were considered as ferals, so letting them in this place where the largest beast gathering dwelled felt odd.
And the tribes that had always upheld these unspoken rules were Lion and Silver Wolf tribes. It was quite ironic in that sense. The two greatest power that kept the ferals out of the city were now their family. Lyra really was playing a long game whether it was knowingly or unknowingly.
Coming back, the matter of those ferals devouring fellow beastmen left him in shock but not for a long time. Killing and eating a beastman was not the end of the world. Gregory himself had eaten beastmen during his most lowest point in training. They made quite a nutritious meal after all.
But that was not important right now. Gregory racked his brain trying to think of something. He didn’t want to let this matter go to waste. This was too good of an opportunity to slip up. He has to make good use of this matter to trouble Iria’s daughter. It didn’t have to be something grand though because a little bit of pressure on that child and her mates felt enough for now, "Iria, don’t blame me" he muttered with a satiated smile on his face, "All of these are the consequences of your own doing. If only you had stayed with me...then I wouldn’t have to do this"
His muttering voice was devoid of warmth and love which he claimed he had for Iria. Day by day, Gregory was descending to madness or he was already mad. He was not sure about that but what he was sure of right now was the need to bother his beloved’s daughter. This was like a little payback for all the pain Iria put him through.
"Any orders, Lord?" Gregory’s subordinate asked as though reading his master’s mind. He had worked too long with his master to not know about the former’s thought process during certain moments.
"By today’s dawn, I want the entire beast city to turn against the Snake tribe," Gregory said, "And tip the eagle tribe about the matter regarding their tribesmen’s death"
Gregory’s subordinate bowed in understanding before leaving that place.
