Chapter 263: Hasty decisions
[Scorpion Tribe]
As soon as Demir entered the scorpion tribe, the guards bowed in respect before one of them went on to inform the king about the prince’s return. They had orders from the king to always notify if the prince ever return to the tribe.
Before Demir could even enter the scorpion castle, the king came rushing out with a big smile on his face, "My dear son!" he hugged his son which made the latter smile.
When the king pulled back, he observed his son’s face and blabbered, "Why did you have to travel through this cold? What if you fall ill? Don’t you know that the cold seasons are harsh in the Beast City?"
Demir chuckled hearing his father, "And you are saying all this to a cold-blooded beastman?" A cold wind was one thing that had never before bothered him as a cold-blooded being. It did make him a little sluggish initially but after becoming an immortal beastman, that too stopped. The need to hibernate quelled for both him and Blake after that. Before, he had not taken this seriously because going into hibernation or not did not bother him but now though, he would go to any lengths necessary to stay by his mate’s side for all year round.
"No matter how much you grow, you will always be my baby boy" His father’s words brought Demir out of his thoughts. The latter frowned at his father’s cringy words, "Don’t call me that" his father was always like this. And whenever he told about this behavior of his father to others, no one believed him. They never could imagine the ruthless scorpion king behaving in such a manner. But the ones he and his father were close to had seen this many times and had come to terms with their king’s eccentric demeanor.
After reaching the king’s meeting room, his father excused all of the elders to leave the room. The tribe elders curiously glanced at the king and the prince before leaving.
When they finally left and the room became empty, Demir and the scorpion king settled in their respective seats.
"Tell me now, what are you here for?" asked the king staring at Demir. His son would not voluntarily leave his mate’s side to come here. The kind had come to terms with that fact. His son hardly came to the tribe after meeting his beloved and that had only increased with him finally mating with Lyra.
