Chapter 245: Eagle guards
"Where is Kyrell?’’
All of Lyra’s mates flinched in their places when they heard her sharp inquiring voice. Right now they were standing in the living room while their mate stood in front of them with her hands folded near her chest. She was looking at them with uncertainty and an anger-filled gaze, "Why is he not here? Is he still searching for me by any chance?’’
"Answer me!" She raised her voice when they stood still without giving her an answer. Lyra rarely shouted at her mates but the fact that they refused to tell her about Kyrell made her angry. This anger was mostly directed at herself rather than them. Kyrell was her responsibility and not theirs. They have no obligation for keeping an eye on one of her mates because it was her job to do that and she failed in doing so. She couldn’t help but think of how she completely forgot about Kyrell until Lucas reminded her of him. During a conversation, he suddenly blurted out about not seeing Kyrell around in everyone’s presence which in turn earned him vicious glares from the beastmen inside the room.
And the one to answer Lyra’s question now was also Lucas, "Except me and Noah, all of them attacked Kyrell when you went missing. They blamed him for losing you" It was simple. He did not want to incur his mate’s wrath not after he had a fantastic time with her just a few hours ago. And as for saving Noah, it was because he was his best friend as well as the fact that Noah didn’t join others in beating up Kyrell. He just wanted to clear his and his friend’s name in their mate’s presence.
Lyra felt his words ring inside her ears. Her face turned ghastly pale as she glanced at her mates, "Is that true?’’ She didn’t really need to ask that question because their heads lowered in shame and their refusal to meet her eyes gave it away, "Why?’’ Lyra asked her voice getting choked, "Why the hell did you guys attack him!?’’
Victor hesitated slightly before voicing out, "He lost you....He was supposed to protect you and he clearly failed that’’
"And why the heck were you not ’Protecting’ me?’’ retorted Lyra, "Aren’t you, my mate too?’’
That made Victor close his mouth. He had indeed failed but due to the heat of the moment of not seeing his mate, he decided to quell his anger on Kyrell. He knew his fault and wanted to apologize but his mate stopped him as she said, "I’m not the one you should be apologizing to’’ her eyes roamed on all of her mates as she added, ’’Make sure to apologize to him when he returns"
Then she went inside her room and came out with a thick robe draped around her, "I’m going to check on, Kyrell’’
