Chapter 236: Two sides

Nathan cast a worried glance at his king’s room. Kyrell had not yet gained consciousness, creating turmoil in their tribe. The elders were angry with their future queen who they deemed responsible for their king’s current condition while the tribesmen were terrified of possible attack by stray beasts due to the king’s absence. The entirety of their future inside the beast city now depended on their king. He had to recover as soon as possible or worse might happen.
But never in his life had he imagined his thoughts coming into reality very soon. He dazedly looked as a female opened the door to the king’s room. He was late in stopping her because the elders entered the room right behind her.
"Lady Alice?’’ Nathan quickly called as he entered the room. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Mahogany brown hair that reached her waist and sharp green eyes that peered into one’s soul.
"It’s been a long time, Nate" Her familiar voice reached his ears and he replied, "It indeed has been, my lady"
"And this is what awaits my return?" Suddenly her voice turned sharp as she added, "Which wench was responsible for this!?"
Nathan frowned. He didn’t like how Alice addressed Lady Lyra.
"Answer me, Nate!" Alice’s loud voice brought him out of his thoughts.
He straightened himself before replying curtly, "I’m not obligated to answer you, my lady. The only person I serve is King Kyrell" he may be the one in a lower position but that did not mean for him to put himself down just to cater the whims of this female.
