Chapter 226: Kalena’s past 2
"You cannot do this to me, my lord!" little Kalena jolted awoke from her sleep hearing her mother’s loud voice. She gingerly got down from her bed before walking towards her door. It took her a lot of effort to reach the door’s handle with her small size, but she didn’t give up. She couldn’t give up because she had to go and see her mother. She didn’t like leaving her mother all alone with her father when they fought.
And when she managed to unlock the door and reached the living room, the sight that greeted her was her mother kneeling on the ground as she cried, "How could you.....!" her mother’s heart-wrenching sobs broke Kalena’s heart, "Why my lord?" then she watched as her mother’s hatred filled eyes reached the other woman standing in the room, "You wench! How dare you! How dare you steal my husband...?"
Kalena didn’t understand all of her mother’s words but she could make out one thing. That strange woman was trying to take her father from them. This was the day she experienced what it means to really hate someone. The disappointment she had in her father was nothing compared to the hatred she was feeling for the woman. Red hair and blue eyes. The woman standing beside her father looked as beautiful as a fairy but she looked ugly to Kalena. The woman looked like a demoness trying to steal her father from their life. Her mother would not be able to take this! Her mother needed her father by her side or Kalena was afraid that she would lose her mother. She didn’t know how but her inner self said so. Only by keeping her father by her mother’s side would she be able to save her mother.
"You had a wife?" Kalena’s thoughts were interrupted when she heard the strange woman’s voice. The said woman looked at her father with stern eyes, "Xen.....you had a wife and a child?"
Kalena briefly felt the woman’s eyes land on her before she looked at her father, "Tell me Xenon! Is...what this woman saying true? Is she your wife!?"
"Rosalie....." Her father’s sad voice rang inside the house. Kalena had never heard her father sound so soft and affectionate ever in her life, "This.....I wanted to say this the first time I met you but...."
"But what!?" shouted the woman named Rosalie. She stepped toward her father and gripped his collar before yelling, "Tell me you, bastard!"
For the first time, Kalena saw tears in her father’s eyes as he struggled to talk, "Rose....please, believe me.....I never wanted to hide this from you but the situation..."
"Don’t tell me you have an excuse for having married?" Rosalie said cutting his words, "And for having a child?" then sardonic laughter filled the living room as the woman continued, "Thanks! Now I know where I stand in your life....thanks for letting me know"
